    Hello Forum,

I recently had an accident which bent my X Axis lead screw. So I purchased a new lead screw which I have since received. Only issue now is that one of my two existing nut blocks on the X axis is not taking the new acme screw easily. I have managed to get it through using a vice-grip and a soft cloth but it is not screwing freely and is way too tight I assume even for my High torque NEMA motor.

Are there any tricks that I need to try or should I just buy a new nut block. As I said, one of them screws in freely, its just the other one which I am having this problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    1) Apply some Dry/PTFE lubcricant
    2) spin it in and out of the nutblock with a cordless drill a couple times to help the nut bed in.

Unless the screw was from a 3rd party, then return it. Our screws are made to match our nuts

Got the screw from one of your resellers here in the UK, so I would assume that it is yours. But I stand corrected. My only challenge now is that I am going to try to reinstall the Nut-block onto the X plate without removing the c-beam. I guess its all part of the fun.

    Hello,
Can you please let me know if this will work as a temporary solution? I got my X axis Lead screw to thread through the nut blocks but I can't get the tension nut to screw onto the lead screw from either end. But I had a spare 8mm lock collar so used it to replace the tension nut. I have managed to get a good tension. It has so far worked fine without a load, but I thought that I ought to check before doing a real job run. Both a new lead screw and tension nut are on order but I need a temp solution as I now have a backload of projects to machine.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Well, lock collars were used before tensioning became fashionable, so should be ok.
