I had a Shark HD4 and the controller went out in it. I decided I wanted to swap over to Openbuilds CNC that I build but for the time being I went with the Blackbox X32 and Interface utilizing my existing table and steppers. I was told they are Nema 23 steppers. The installation and wiring was easy enough and everything moves in the correct direction. It was not until I dry ran a project that I noticed when it was supposed to move 4" it actually attempted to move over 6". This was also displayed on the manual movements. I imagine it is a setting I missed somewhere but I am not sure where to even begin to look. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

You need to calibrate your steps/mm (or inch). If using Openbuilds Control, it is easy and it is built into the software.

I highly recommend using a very pointy endmill (like a V bit) as your measuring endmill and use the longest measuring distance you can. The longer the didtance, the more accurate your end result will be.

If you are using a different control software, break out the calculator, read this link, and use the formula provided:

    Grbl v1.1 Configuration

Ahh I do recall seeing those settings. I am using control and I will try that out tomorrow as soon as I can. Thank you!

Just to finish out the thread, that worked perfectly and after a long baseline measurement, it seems to be pretty accurate. Thank you!
