Anyone know how I can trace my 3d file in Fusion360 onto my spoilboard? I have a precut project but I want to be able to take it up and put it back down but I need a trace of my object. in 1 D lol ..
Do you mean you need the outline - a contour toolpath? If so create a contour toolpath with a shallow depth and use an engraving bit to trace the outline onto your spoilboard. If you need further help upload your Fusion file here and we can have a look at it. Alex.
Not quite sure what you're asking - Do you want to engrave the outline of a 3D object into your spoil board? (You can do that by: Create a new sketch in F360 on a plane parallel to your spoil board Project the outline of the 3D body into it. Create a 2D contour toolpath and use the sketch line for the geometry ) [EDIT - post crossed with @Alex Chambers ]
I just want to cut into spoil-board the shape so when I remove project to hand work some of the wood, then be able to stick it back down in same place. and also have a mark to clut down another new piece and know that Im not missing my centering work.. still learning 360 when I have time and moving the center point and knowing orientation is still a little confusing to me lol
eventually I want to learn how to make pilot holes and dowels to flip project and stay on same centerpoint
That is easy. Just put two holes in your drawing. If using Vectric software place these wholes on both layers of the drawing. On the first side, drill the holes in the material before flipping. Once the piece is removed to be flipped, machine the wholes for the side two drawing first, put the dowels in, them put the piece on the dowels and clamp down. If you do not use Vectric software, just always put the dowel holes on the exact centerline of your drawing. Here is a good video explaining the process. At the 14:45 mark, he discusses the hole placement.
yeah I may have to update... fusion360 is far more advanced than I think I need for now... not that I cannot learn.. its the beginning learning curve and being so busy the time it takes me to work on it is limited
