So I just finished up my Lead 1515 build and went to cut the "hello world" file. Problem I had was when trying any style of probing connected to blackbox x32 via my laptop resulted in nothing, no movement at all 4 out of 5 times with the other 1 time it moved from the start point ( bit diameter registration point) to well beyond the top surface of the plate and then started traveling down ( Z-) towards the material and I'm assuming would have crashed if I hadn't hit abort. Oddly enough is that it works perfectly when connect to the interface with no issue that I've noticed as of yet. Am I missing something? I did everything the same as when I was connected to the interface, correct device( openbuilds xyz probe), confirm location and then click probe.... magnet attached to collet and confirmed connection by manually lifting the plate to the bit and visually seen the green light..
Use the Troubleshooting tab to test and logs of a probe attempt for us to review. Possibly an Earth to DC GND short via a spindle body, if probe shows triggered soon as magnet touches collet/bit
I'll take a look at the troubleshooting tab, just weird that it works with the interface and not with my laptop connected to blackbox. Figured if something was wrong it wouldn't work either way. Thank you, I'll pay back after I do that
Here is a pic of the log when I try to do any type of probe via laptop. I lined up my 1/4" to the hole, hit confirm and then probe and this is the location it moved to and then had to hit abort to avoid a crash into the spoilboard
Reset while in motion means something shorted out the controller. Recheck probe wiring. Check that spindle body isn't shorted to DC GND as well
The reset in motion is me hitting abort to avoid the bit from crashing into the spoilboard When I hit probe, it travels from the start location then moves BEYOND the upper right corner of the probe and starts traveling downward (Z-) into the spoilboard. It doesn't kiss off on the Y or Z axis of the probe like it should before making that initial moment. None of these things happen when connected to the interface
Yes sir, off the tip of my head I remember it being the first selection. That of the openbuilds xyz prob.
And if you are jogging does the machine follow the correct distances and directions? If so, wrong machine profile, did you maybe change some things in grbl settings tab since it last worked on the Interface) Double check, if you are on CUSTOM the distances will be off as described
Yes I'm positive about my selection, I was referring to off the top of my head as in the actual name of the selection in the probe settings. At the time of the last post I wasn't in the shop but I am now.
If the correct probe is selected, its sending a move like (from your screenshot) and going further: Then your calibration must be off
Is it possible to calibration via one connection method (laptop to blackbox) but not another(interface to blackbox) So how would I calibrate it and would that calibration only apply to it when I'm using my laptop? I ask because it works flawlessly when I'm using it through the interface? I can post another screenshot of the serial port log but this time I will power cycle the machine and all programs, start control via laptop and home the machine and try a probe again. Also another question, I'm doing pictures on my phone because when I right click and highlight all the info in the serial port and try to copy+paste so I can put it directly into these posts, i don't get any options to do so after I highlight the selection.. is there something specific I need to do it if that not possible in the control software?
Do the test first before we jump ahead. Switch to incremental jog, do a test jog (say 100mm) and see if it lines up. Or even better use Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots - Microsoft Support to grab proper readable screensots. Photos of a screen are hard to read. At this point logs won't help though, of course the wizard sends the correct move amount, we saw that already. Plus wizard hasn't changed in years and works for thousands of other users. The log shows it moving to the center of the plate (22.5mm moves) - if the machine moves more, your steps per mm are wrong
I don't get what's going on now... after going through the probing sequence it just stays there and doesn't move.My settings are still and have been the default for the Lead1515. I guess you can say I kind of Calibrated all the axis's. I took all measurements and they were dead on so I didn't change anything since that's what they are default set to. I just don't get it. My probing sequence as followed- 1 power up 2 connect to blackbox via laptop 3 home machine 4 zero out XYZ 5 move machine to material area 6 open probe wizard 7 connect magnet 8 fine tune location with probe wizard xyz tabs 9 confirm bit diameter 10 confirm correct device 11 click confirm probe position 12 click probe All attempts followed up by no movement at all Only 2 times the spindle moved and started the probing sequence but it moved beyond the top of the plate and started moving downward in a -Z motion that forced me to click "Abort" tab to avoid a crash into the material..Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Peter, Thank you for your help. The problem has been fixed. I backed up my Grbl settings and reflashed the blackbox and then loaded my settings again. That seems to have fixed the issue. I know I flashed it during initial setup but figured something had to be wrong.. lol All is well now and thanks again for the quick replies today.
