New to this forum. Thought I would post some issues I’m having with my JD’s garage cnc plasma cutter so see if I can get some help. I’ve been running this thing for over a year now with no major issues, but now I’m having some problems.

First and main problem is that my torch relay is not firing until the stepper motors start moving. This is affecting my pierce and leaving gaps in my cuts. The torch is supposed to fire after the z-axis touch off routine, time delay and pierce into the work, then begin the tool path. Played with the software in both fusion and the GRBL settings, but can’t get anything to change. If I add more pierce delay to the g-code, It just does the touch off, delays for the specified time, then fires the torch and begins the path at the same time.

Eventually I tried changing Arduino control boards, and magically the problem was fixed.
However, now after my machine runs for a minute or so, the x-axis driver shuts down. The machine continues to run through the g-code without the x-axis, the driver will come back on if I turn power off and back on.

I’ve swapped boards back and forth multiple times. Checked all my wiring/ dip switches etc. same results every time, even with the JD’s test g-codes. One board doesn’t pierce correctly the other board shuts down the x axis. Could I really have two bad boards? Let me know any ideas.

    Thanks.

turn off laser mode by setting $32 to 0
    what board, specifically?
    what drivers, exactly?
    what power supply?
    what motors?
