I need to control a Nema 42 with the BlackBox x32 to get a higher torque. The power requirements are 6A & 4.8V. Any recommendations for a driver that will be compatible? And resources for wiring and setup? Here is the datasheet for the motor I'm considering purchasing: 42HS59-6004S Full Datasheet Nema 42 CNC Stepper Motor Bipolar 22Nm (3115oz.in) 6.0A 110x150mm 4 Wires - Oyostepper.com Thanks!
BlackBox can do max 3.2A RMS, so those motors will be quite underpowered on it. External drivers not supported (BlackBox is a plug-and-play system with onboard drivers)
Thank you. Can the pwm, tool, and other inputs not be used to receive a signal from a driver? If not, is there any way to modify the blackbox with a more powerful driver?
there is a way to use external drivers, but you will need a fair bit of electronics know-how to do it. maybe look at Clearpath units? solves the motor + driver questions, step and direction inputs for easy interfacing. you will need 2 power supplies though, one for the higher voltage Clearpath and one 24v for the rest of the system.
