does anyone have a file SVG or STL of the XYZ Probe? here is my reason most of my craves are Wavy flags that once I rough the top I have no height that I can set my Z off of again. The old method before OpenBuilds I would set my Z to the table using the piece of paper, I had a touch plate but after breaking my first bit I was not attempting to try it again as I got my whole table used and the last owner didn't like it so I didn't waste time on it. After carving my second piece and not having the nasty steps in my work as they have a good amount of bit changes on each. I want to carve out a nesting spot in the table to be flush with it so I can touch my z and go on my many bit changes. When I need to get it out to reference my X,Y,Z to start the project I can pop it out and do so.
When doing 3D carves, I always zero on the bed with my OpenBuilds probe. I flip the probe upside down so it sits flat on the bed. I set Z zero on bed in Vcarve or whatever CAM program I am using. I have never had an issue doing it this way. That being said, here are the dimensions It is 12 mm thick at the thickest and 9mm thick for the rest: I created an outline for you in both dxf and svg. You would have to add to the pocket the size of whatever plug or wires you are using. If you use it, test on scrap first. I assumed the corner radius was 5mm because that is what it looked like when I drew the file over the top of the image.
Still same. Flip probe upside down, place on table. Run CONTROLs > Probe Wizard > Z probe. Done. Zero is set off the table now. Remember to set stock origin to bottom/table in your CAM workflow
Wow thank you fellows I guess I was overthinking it for sure! I never even gave it a thought to flip it over! Most of my carves I am setting to the table in Vcarve. I am so glad that I made the Hardware switch and the Forum is great help!
