Does not look like a SketchUcam problem, your free trial of express zip expired. Try 7-Zip it is free and works great.

I don't use Google Chrome, it's a security risk on your computer. It has hidden apps listening in to conversations in the room and store the information elsewhere, without the consent of the computer owner.

Hi Paul and all, YES! It's up and running. I cut a sign mock-up I threw together. It zips around pretty good for a belt drive machine. Much better than the Shapeoko I built. Running the steppers on 36v instead of 12v really does help.

I hope to take time to post the build this weekend. I really need to shoot some more pics of detail.

Gibson - your build is coming along great! I'll bet you are cutting very soon too. Nicely done!

Autodesk fusion 360 is free and now has a simplified version of hsm cam built in :). And for making models has anyone tried onshape, currently in beta which means it's free but as far as I can tell glitch free and miles better than sketchup.

I knew you were up to something! I heard no heads banging against the shed wall the last couple of nights, instead I hear the screaming sounds of bits racing thru wood in the early morning! Good to hear, Larry.:)

I use that spindle on my OX, works great and is super quiet. The only negative,, and depending on what your cutting, you'll be limited on your feed rate due to the low RPM's. All in all, it's a good option...IMHO.

Btw, I'm cutting balsa and plywood.

I'm guessing you mean dc voltage? If so then yes?

O you mean direct current voltage, was going to say 124v dc can't be right.

Good job on using two psu's, plenty of amps available there.

May want to separate your supply grounds and go to one common point back to earth. Same for your Bob supply if you have one. Double check the wiring diagram of that rocker switch too. That ground looks sketchy.
Other than that hey...it works. You can cut a case when your machine is cutting. Right?

Second that about the ground, i noticed that guys not fitted an ac filter, personally I think they are essential, I use two one inches away from the spindle on spindle mains, and another before psu's bobs etc.

Many will say you don't need them on a home supply but for a few quid better having them than not, had some noise issues myself on a house supply before fitting these.

If you are using a kettle connection you can get them inbuilt in the panel mount males. Though kettle leads are not really a good choice of connector as they can be pulled out. I use the power version of the speakon type.

No problem, Grounding the case with the mains ground and then attaching all the grounds to the case works to the same effect, only if you do this its best to do an induction test with a multimeter between mains supply ground point and grounds at each component to test connection 0.9-1 is an exceptable range im0.

Grounding this way also shields emf,s from entering the case. So really it's the better approach.

You can then simply Wire the ox frame to the case also and perform induction test in same manner except you need to test all metal areas of the frame, a single connection I found grounded the entire frame however you may need to make two connections, if so run two cables from the case to the ungrounded areas of the frame, don't use cable screen wire. This reduces the chances of noise generated in the frame from friction transferring into your cables.

only connect your screened cable screen wires at the case and ensure the other end it cut off inside the insulation so as not to touch anything and make a loop.

Inside the grounded case it's also good practice to use conductive dividers ie more ally, between your psu,s and drivers and bob and another isolating the motion controller if you have one. Each area having a fan or use perforated dividers to allow air flow.

May sound a little extreme but doing all this covers all areas and if you one day decide to convert to plasma you may just stand a chance.

The grounding I recommended was for safety purposes.
