Ok so in that case when you jog you should see steps on pin 2 and direction on pin 3,

If you jog the x do you see the dro figures move?

Sorry if I'm sounding patronising btw it's not intentional just helps to visualise what's going on

If so put a multimeter over the Gnd terminal and pin 3 terminal, when you change direction you should see a voltage

the figures are the position so if they are not moving neither are you outputting any steps so need to confirm Mach 3 is outputting steps before continuing

Brilliant, your almost there then. Most likely an active low unchecked. So what changed that made it run?

No infact, it's well past my bed time, active low should make a difrence it shouldn't just run. Could you have your driver direction and steps wiring round the wrong way.

just vibrating and not moving? Two causes you have your motor poles wired wrong or too little current to drive the motor. It's only doing it when you jog tho yeah?

Two windings with both sides of the winding bridging both channels of your driver will make one winding try to go one way and the other the opposite way and cancel themselves out. I think, it's 3 in the morning I'm not sure of much right now but worth checking

Oh and need to set your motor tuning, 400mm/min 50mm/ps/ps is a good place to start for x and y, half that for z

Got to hit the sack, good luck. Sounds like your on your way. Takes an Intire week to set my machine up from scratch, calibrate and test it. And pretty much same with my ox. Have fun.

Almost forgot, you need to do a steps per calculation, as default they are set real low and will make your motors go super slow especially with microstepping

No that's for calculating feeds and speeds of cutting, search for steps per mm calculator.

Well if you enter that into motor tuning and then go to tools tab should see a button axis calibrate or setup or something similar in the bottom left corner, you can enter a dimension for it to travel, measure once travelled and enter that distance and see if it calculates a similar value, if it does I suggest you leave it with the original calculation over the Mach 3 calculation as it's usually more accurate

You're driver most likely isn't receiving the direction signal.

Yes you can put both y and a (the other y driver) into one port on your bob, simply reverse the wiring of one of your y motors coils, ie choose a channel at the driver say b make pos neg and neg pos. so one motor turns the opposite way
