I'm wondering how to avoid adjusting anti-backslash parts, specially when are mounted in Z axis. I made a fast mockup of a modified 8mm Nut Block, with a Weld Square nut and a spring. Do you think it would it work? and would it worth? EDIT: although I said ACME screw, I meant threaded rod, usually 1mm pitch.
I never liked the idea of springs for antibacklash mechanisms. Try a design that utilizes a solid means with adjustment for preloading. cool design though. Joe.
You may be able to achieve the same thing just by removing the nut and wedging a stiff spring inside the existing anti-backlash nut block.
Thanks both! I agree, but AFAIK there's no 1mm pitch nut block, just ACME pitch. Also, I think this block is oversized for that pitch. I will mechanize this part for my current project, just for fun. Why is preferable the split nut method instead? I think is quite aggressive for the screw, springs are more progresive and adaptive to small imperfections of the rod.
