Work and the Makerfarm machine are conspiring to slow me down a bit. I am going to move the bulk of the parts back to the OIT 3D lab/Makerspace'ish area probably next week. I need to find some help in sorting out the CAD drawings so we can get the right amount of extruded aluminum for the rest of the frame.

I'm really hoping to build a student team to split out some of the work. It is very hard for me to get below 50 hours a week at work and I'm starting classes at the end of the month.

That being said, we will have progress in the next few weeks. The main thing that is holding me up is making sure I get the right dimensions on that extruded T-slot. After that it should go back together fairly quickly and we can start harnessing up the motors and sensors.

 

And life intervenes... Work + school has been kicking my butt. Also wound up with all the gear from the lab back in the apartment. So now I have four 3D printers in various states of build/rebuild on top of Monsters gear. No rest for the weary.

Plan is now to get my i3 Prusa rebuild done and the Makerfarm tuned for dual extrude (works now, but needs adjustment). I have an early Rostock Maxx that I have the rebuild kit for, really a complete teardown and buildup with nearly all new parts. That printer is the one that I really don't have any interest in. So not sure what I might do with it.

I want to get Monster going, but I really need to work out the new bed scheme. I need to shift from moving Y stage to a lowering Z stage, either cantilevered or four corner support. This is where I really wish I had some ME help from work or school. I'm just a monkey with a wrench by day and trying to get back to Embedded Systems with the school thing. :-/

 

I don't want to think what the lead screws would cost for that. Though maybe one of the belted designs would do the trick. Gotta get the bed design puzzled out.
