I'm using a 1.5kw chinese spindle. I have it grounded to earth but it would be nice for it to be permanently connected to 0v DC so I don't need to put a clip on the bit every time I want to do a Z probe. Any comments on if this will cause me problems? Obviously it can be okay for short term because it happens every time you connect the clip for probing, but what if I just hooked 0v DC to the same wire as the earth ground?
Hi Nate, I think a way you can achieve this is to change your settings to indicate when the signal goes to 0v. Then send your low voltage signal through the touch plate by attaching + and - to it. When your tool touches the plate the signal should bleed off through ground and cause a low state. This won't work if your tool is not grounded through the collet to begin with. Joe
