Aluminum weights can vary from .3247x to .3497x the weight of steel. Best rule of thumb is just to multiply aluminum weight by 3 (or 2.97) to get an idea of what a similar volume of steel weighs.

Download dwg true view from autodesk. And open the dxf in the files. Or download sketch up and open the sketch up model in the files tab

In trying to tune up my steppers, I find the X+ (left arrow) and X-(right arrow) and Z+(PGUP) and Z-(PGDW) directions are backwards. Up key moves Z down and down key moves Z up. Is this typical with CNC routers? If not, what do I have wrong. The Y axis is just fine.

Also, I have one motor (y) that is a lot louder  than the others. I have used the trim on all motors. The Y stepper just won't quiet down. The X, Z and A steppers are very quiet. Any advice out there?

Motor quietness had to do with motor tuning or possibly a chopper drivers for your control board.

Your direction keys are reversed. in mach ports and pins toggle the active low for the effected axis on the direction pin

Make sure your coils are wired correct if they are not you can get a grinding noise. Not sure what controller/software you are using?

Thank you. I'll give the active low a try. I don't understand what "a chopper drivers" are. I'm learning.

For your direction you can also reverse it by changing the setting in the "homing/limits" page

For the sound of your Y axis, did you try to play with the speed and acceleration value in the "motor tuning" page? You can use the up dans down arrow to move it in that page and hear if it sounds good.

I also want to know what combination of feeding speed, spindle speed and end mill are you using with the OX for different materials? (aluminium, plywood, mdf etc)

I haven't gotten that far yet. Still playing around with various settings. At this point in the CNC game, I don't know how to tell the machine to cut a certain pattern.:banghead:

My motors won't turn while on the motor tuning page. I have to save the settings and hit ok. That takes me off the tuning page. Try the motors then return to the tuning page if I don't like it. X,Z and A motors are very quiet. Y motor has a deep hum to it. I have the trim turned down almost all the way. Turning it up any makes the motor louder. I removed the belt tension and tried moving the spindle to see if maybe something was binding. All moves smoothly.

Try using the up down arrows for each axis while in motor tuning
I would still take a quick look at the wiring pins the plug and play board could have a bad solder joint.
