Looking for opinions on whether I should get a Bosch or Dewalt router, or a quiet cut spindle? Spindle is cheaper, I already have a Big Bosch in a table and a porter cable full size router, so dual purpose (with the router purchase) is not a plus. Just want to purchase correctly the first time out. Thanks in advance
It's been a question that's popped up before, it made me question the way the purpose for which these things are built and what kind of testing they undergo as routers generally are not used for lengthy periods of time so is it likely that Bosch say test and build theirs to run for long periods. Not sure, one thing I will say I got with my kress spindle that I know I have never recieved with a router was a runout test certificate,
Went with a Makita...it is loud though!!! I saw a video of a cut being made with one of those spindles and I couldnt hear anything but the wood being cut! I like the way the router cuts, but dont have anything to compare it with except the dremel tool I used the first day...Once I get some "miles" on the machine I may change to a spindle...
I am using a Makita RT0700 on my Ox. It's quieter than the Colt, especially at the lowest RPM settings (10,000). So far I've been happy. Have a neighbor with a large 4 x 4 CNC, and he uses an Hitachi M12VC (nice RPM range from 8,000 t0 24,000) and it runs continuously for several hours a day when he is doing production runs. It's also relatively quiet. @Jonny Norris which Kress spindle are you using? I haven't been able to find any US based sources.
