Have any of you tried one of these boards ? I am thinking on ordering one to toy with. They seem quite powerful and interface with the Pi natively .
I will be taking a very close look at both of these boards, I love the Pi's and am currently using a 2-B to run Octoprint for the Prusa i3 variant...
I contacted the guys over Kickstarter about the availability of these boards...looks like we're too late. "Dear Daniel, as for the zeropi, we are not planning to sell it again, but we have developed a new board-Megapi which is better than zeropi and is going to be sold in the beginning of April. Pls kindly focus on our official web.www.makeblock.cc, thanks." I guess I'll be looking at the Megapi ;-)
They did not, and I can't find anymore info on the MegPi as of yet...there is nothing on the site they linked...I guess we'll have to wait until April!?!?
Hmm, I'm thinking that they figured out that it's not easy to port Marlin, Grbl, and everything else to the Zero (ARM chip). Their github site had no ported code for these projects to run on their ZeroPi. It's trivial to port them to the Mega2560 though. I bet that's what they are doing.
HAha, you know a lot more about this stuff than I do!! I hope whatever comes out next will be user friendly enough for us newbs to get through it ;-)
