This looks about exactly how I expect my bench to look in the somewhat near future, Maker Select and all!

Did you use the Maker Select to print the parts for the C-Bot? What material did you use?

Hoping to get time to work on this soon.. I finally got my build "working" on Friday, but spent all weekend fighting Smoothieware to try to get a solid print because their auto bed leveling doesn't actually use the probe offset (as far as I can tell anyway).

 

I'm curious has anyone tried a cbeam for the Z? Single cbeam center rear was my thinking... Among other things it would reduce the printed parts and bearings needed.

 

Just curious; where did the v2 files go? I found that it worked well.

 

lol, I deleted them, since I figured the new ones were moar better. I can get them back up there tonight.

On a side topic, I've had a casual reminder of the importance of polarity in wiring.... cable management and a nifty ramps enclosure resulted in a melted hotend fan and a fried SSR relay ....

My own fault for being a dough head. I really should've packed it in about an hour earlier and just went to bed .... lol

 

Nothing big so far. General notes to date? Space was tight for the Z motor mounts on the offset bar when using corner brackets on both sides. I had to remove the bottom pair on the front to clear and make the screws line up.
Another peeve is the cable/ptfe bundle going to the extruder. Seems to flop around and almost get caught on the left y-axis assembly, so i might think of something a little beefier and taller for the frame end of it.
I have plans that even though I'm using 1.75mm filament, i'll run 3mm ID ptfe to the extruder so it can pull it through a little more freely, even if the bundle is bent.
I also ordered an extra length of 2020 to tie to the front of the z-platform to keep the spacing equal. I either have a wonky bracket or slightly bent 2040 piece because the distance between them is slightly different. It'll also give me another screw mount location if I choose to go with another, or even just another place to mount a corny logo plate of some sort for my own entertainment.

I think I lucked out that the rework STLs were available by the time I started printing for my build. So far so good. It's a LOT more straight forward than when I was building and tuning my Kossel. I have a smoothie on it, which I like almost all things of (yes, no soft-limit options are a pain, especially on a delta) but I keep hearing that it might be overkill on a CoreXY. I'm following post on those using the E3D Titan as it would be great to loose some weight on the gantry using a pancake nema.

So back to the original question; the reworks are great so far. And just a little hat tip to you Carl and the other regular contributors for a great build and great development!

which thread? I'm very early in the planning stages for building this bot and was planning to go with the titan extruder direct

 

Elmo is using one. Pics a few pages back. Looks like he had a mishap but he might just needed a "moar better" fan....

I had the same peeve as you. Here is how I resolved it...



Cable chains. The only part I couldn't run through it was the PTFE tube to feed the filament. But with that being the only part hanging out, it is not much of an issue.

 

Do you have the titan carriage sources posted anywhere? stl or scad work for me.

I am including the STL files for them. I am also adding the files for AK Eric's fan shroud and the V2 shroud. He has a V3 out now, but haven't been able to test it. Because the hotend is offset from the center, I had to move the shroud over to match it.

Haven't yet. I was planning on trying it Saturday until I had that blow out. Going to try some soon.

Also have been thinking about doing a dual Titan carriage. Each of those pancake motors are less than half the weight of the larger one so doing two shouldn't be too big of an issue. I just don't have a second extruder to test it with... yet.

 

I'll get the Titan carriage posted later tonight so that can be added to the collection.

 

FYI. I realized there were a couple other files I needed to add. I am working on a Thingiverse project where I will have all the files. Will post the link when I get it finished.

 

From the pics it looks like you could mount almost any extruder in place of the Titan.. Is that the case?

 

Depends on the extruder. The Titan basically uses a standard Nema 17 mount so if the extruder attached the same way, it could work.

Did you do this in OpenSCAD? If so, do you mind sharing that as well? I'm guessing the changes for most other extruder mounts should be pretty minor

 

No laughing at my OpenSCAD code.

 

Just tried printing some NinjaFlex. While I was able to get it to come out of the nozzle, I don't have the settings tuned in for it to print right. I have never had much luck with it so the problem is probably me.

Anyone have any suggestions for printing NinjaFlex?

 

I use it on my rep1 pretty often to make friends iphone cases Only big adjustments I make from normal printing are: (4mm nozzle)
* 30mm\sec travel speed (slow, very slow)
* 250ish extrusion temp

 

What bed temp do you use?

 

When I print ninjaflex or semiflex I use the following:

hotend: e3d v6, .4mm 1.75
hotend temp: 228
bed temp: n/a
bed treatment: blue painters tape or 3d eez. Note, iirc printing to buidltak will destroy the section of buildtak

print speed is the most critical. When talking with Flint in makerstoolworks irc channel, he advised 20-30mm / sec. no retraction and have all print speeds the same - no change in speed for infill etc.

I found ninjaflex to print fairly consistently and runs smooth. It does ooze a good bit iirc - its been a little while since I needed to print anything with it.

I'm curious with the titan what kind of speeds you could achieve with the ninjaflex. I had issues with backpressure and pulling the filament out of the hotend / binding. Part of why I'm interested in the titan actually.

 

I am new to this thread and would like to attempt to build this 3d printer because it is so well thought out, but I would like to have dual extruders. Can anyone advise me on this? The extruder carriage appears to be made to accept 2 extruders, but I have not seen any examples of this? Any advice would be appreciated.
