I take it you havent wired up the homing switches or the start/hold/reset ones ether? I build my ox about a year ago, but just started to have the time to play with it. I was getting a faulty prob when trying to use the touch plate.

 

No, for me the way I use it I really don't need limit or homing switches....
what fault are you getting with the touch plate?

 

I got it working with shorter wires, but I still find it a little flakey. Using the 5+ and ground. I just need to wire up the limit switch just as a safety if it goes wonky.

 

Hey guys just getting my of kit up and running. Bought the kit from smw3d but went with a cnc xpro instead of their tiny g. I'm working on getting all the settings nailed down and have run into a couple issues with the x and y. First off they both seem to be a bit noisey and can almost make out the steps in the noise, the z is nice and smooth tho. Also on the same two axis my movements are consistently off. The same on both x and y one step is 1.012 next step is 0.975 then 1.013 then it repeats In that order if I continue jogging. Any suggestions? Oh I am using 26.667 step/mm for both x and y

 

What g code sender are you using, I found by using the universal gcode sender resovled my issue with noise steps.

 

Have tried ugs grbl panel and grbl controller all the same findings

 

Using the 24v 350watt psu supplied in the kit running 3 Nema 23 and one Nema 17 steppers

 

Tried adjusting the pots but didn't seem to change anything even turned all the way down it still moves and sound the same at 0 or 100 percent or anywhere in between. As far as the Nema 17 goes from wat i read on smw3d site the 23 is a bit overkill but we will find out if I can get the rest sorted out. The psu has also been check as it putting out exactly 24.0 v

 

@Ronald van Arkel they are already set at 1/8 step, all three axis. And also using a 30x30 fan blowing directly over the board mounted in a box.

 

Just tried 1/16 steps seems to be the same way. Yes I am using gt3 belts and Pulleys. The Nema 23 steppers are 175 Oz. Wat if I go the other way with the steps... To 1/4 will that make it better or worse?

 

Well I got the inconsistent movements squared away. Just fiddled with settings ended up bumping the steps/mm up to 27.000 for x and y and now they r spot on... Now just the noise issue remains. I did manage to get it a little better by changing some of the settings but oddly the noise from the steppers has a different tone depending on which program I try to jog it in... Have been using ugcs and grbl panel mostly.... Seems to be louder or more pronounced growling in grbl panel. I could just use ugcs but the way I have my spindle setup is using the software to adjust speed thru pwm and I don't see anywhere in ugcs that supports thst so would rather stick with grbl panel. Any more suggestions?

Here's where I'm at currently. Doesnt make sense why they sound different between the two programs when the grbl settings r the same.

 

Also is there something In the programming that I need to enable to use the spindle speed pwm outputs? Tried running a simple program today just cutting air, went pretty well except when I hit start the spindle started to spool up then shut off and don't come back on for the rest of the program

I finished my cbeam. Downloaded the software for the xpro through openbuilds,plugged the xpro in and everything seem right settings there went through the setting according to the JPEG . Hooked up the power supply 24v 350w 15 amps, jogged motors everything was good. When I tried again the next day I had yellow LEDs on the board for the coolant and spindle and there were no setting on the settings tab, through different emails (spark concepts and openbuilds) they said the drivers may need to be updated, tried that but still no setting. Any help Also was reading on github grbl setting ,that the grbl could be restored if so "how" I have no command line to work with

Hook the Uno up to your PC and boot the Arduino IDE.
Set the correct COM port.
Go into TOOLS>Serial Monitor.
Type in $RST=$
That should do it.

Update to what mr fox said to try, that didn't help, thank you though I was reading on forums that it could possibly be bricked if so would that cause my problems and can it be fixed or should it be trashed thanks again brian

Can a touch plate be used with the CNC xPro? if so how and where do I connect it?

I am just about to wrap up my ooznest OX 1000x15000, CNC xPro, limit switches, DW611 using a Raspberry PI 3 running Raspian Jesse and ZapMaker Grbl Controller.

 

Its said not to use Grbl controller.

 

Do you know why that is or where it says that? This is the custom build I am using with a few slight modifications. Thanks for the heads up as well.
