The Tevo Tarantula do you think they used Openbuilds parts? I saw their wheels and they didn't look like the ones from the parts store here. I also wonder if we sourced all of the mechanical parts only (extrusion, wheels, etc...) would it be cheaper than that printer? If we take away the electrical parts that is around 75 less. HBP around 20 for a MK3, the four motors of about 15 a piece that makes the hardware around 70-80 dollars. I wonder if we could get all of that hardware for that price, or less, directly through Openbuilds?
After some discussion about this printer it came up that the Wheels that Openbuilds sells, or wheels in general, are not good for 3d printers and linear rails are far superior except in the noise department. This is after people have been testing them at 90mm/s+ speeds so maybe they are alright at the speeds a CNC router would go but for a 3d printer it is wiser to use a linear rail on all axis.
They're not even using fake Openbuilds parts. Look closely, the frame is not V-slot. You can probably chalk it up to a general lack of interest... (Nothing is being suppressed. There is no conspiracy here.)
After asking the group for the printer you are correct they are NOT using OB stuff and just using Chinese knock off junk. As someone replied - "The aluminum profiles are different, as I have both. The center holes are different sizes, and OB's v-slots are actually a V, while the one's on a TEVO are actually two overlapping arcs, and the slots are narrower enough to change the wheel bolt patterns." What was a dead giveaway to me was the wheels as they looked inferior and odd to me (the inside part) and I see now it extends to their extrusion as well. Can't even be called V-Slot (maybe V-Slop but not V-Slot).
