For the last two or three weeks these forums feel like they are under a DDoS attack for me but your parts store is fast as lightning. I am getting timeouts and all sorts of issues to the point the forums are too horrible to even use and trying to go into the discussions of a printer build is just as bad. What is going on? IP changed. Check Cache cleaned. Check Different browsers attempted. Check Reinstall Windows. Check
Hi DarkAlchemist, no problems here, I am located in Australia. Everything pops up pretty quick here, I have been visiting these forums for a few months and have recently signed up here in the last week or two and visiting on a daily basis since the C-Beam XL build was announced. I have not noticed any issues viewing or downloading from the site. Have you tried a different network such as a mobile phone network provider and checked performance as opposed to your usual home internet provider to see if there is any difference. Glenn.
Well, they are unusable for me and there is nothing I can do to fix them. I will just have to erase them from my bookmark because they really are that bad for me. Could be some link I am pathing through but I do not have it within my power to fix this issue. Maybe it will clear up within a few months but it seems seriously odd that after I mentioned the Tevo this started. Probably coincidence but that will say when this issue began.
Let me add I have found the issue and this site turns to worse than mush ONLY when I log in. If I logout then change my IP, or use a proxy or a VPN, then come back to the site it is back to the normal way of working then login and back to less than mush. So, this tells me something behind the scenes is broken either by accident or on purpose.
Chrome, IE11, Firefox, Opera but, as I said above, this only happens once I log in but if I stay logged out the forums work pretty much fine. It isn't ip based as I changed my ip then used a proxy then used a VPN and always they all ran fine until I log in then become too unusable with timeouts and blank pages and takes 3 to 4 minutes to bring up a page (most likely will be a blank page the first time). Now, if I logoff and change my ip the forums are fine but as soon as I log in they become unusable again. Now to test wth is going on I made a new account on a different ip and logged in and the forums run fine. It has something to do with this account.
I think you are in the wrong thread here Vester. You've gone one level too deep in the general talk forum. Nobody will see this unless you start a new topic. Also try the Concepts and Ideas area under sharing ideas. Cheers, Paul
IP changed. Check Cache cleaned. Check Different browsers attempted. Check Reinstall Windows. Check The other account is dead since I can't login and post with it now and if that happens to this one then I will know it is not by accident. Lets hope what happened to that account happens to others so someone will fix the issue.
Glad to see you are back up and running @DarkAlchy could be a corupted account during database backups here (there are always lag time issues on this large backups). There were a few people who had similar issues around the same times. We can look into this further and making sure that we do crons and backup at a different times, but if it corrupts there's not much that can be done other then a new account. So you did the right thing. The Part Store is on a seperate server. Thank You for the feedback. I will be moving this thread into the site bugs thread for future references.
That is what I was thinking is a DB corruption and glad to know I was not the only one. Can't the DB just be deleted and rebuilt? edit: Records purged and rebuilt or some way to take care of the corruption? A DB corruption, regardless of how many records that were affected, is not a good thing to just let sit.
We are looking into it with the hosting, but the main thing is the OpenBuilds community is growing quickly so we just have to make sure we make room for it
Well, if at all possible I would love my old login back. I wonder why, and how, the Db became corrupted?
I forgot and logged in, well I tried to, with my original account and all I got was a spinning wheel of death so I quickly closed my browser and tried to come back to the site but it was still in limbo. So, I switched to openbuilds.org (easier than zapping my cache and logins) and logged in with this account and not a single issue. I then went to the .com and boom, right there without an issue and I posted about a Cantilever printer question. Just like Mark said it is something with the DB and I know DBs have a log the admin can read to see what is going on. The problem is when you start renting servers you become so detached and reliant upon who knows what on the other end to do their due diligence. The problem is so many today have lost the will to actually trouble shoot (even when you are paying them for the space and support) and that is sad.
I think I could do this by creating a new account and associating it with your old account, well give it a try this morning. On the other we believe that this happened during a backup that was truncated several times before we got a handle on it. It was not too bad but it did make a few headaches to deal with. We now also run a mirror site for sand boxing any new features being worked on for the site, which is cool. So true, we gave up on this some time ago and do our server with in house support.
Well, Mark got it back with a back around the bend fix but as long as it works. Thank you Mark and I wonder how many were affected with this?
Well there's another Most of the guys that had these problem could not get back in at all so they emailed us and in most cases we were able to help. Over all it seems to be a small chunk of users affected and they are getting back in now so thats good. Sorry to hear this @Julius we will attempt the new account association and this should help get you back in without the corruption.
Could be a coincedence, but I am able to edit my build now and this loaded first try. I'll let you know if any other issues pop up on google+, as that always works
No coincident just us working to fix it for you. That will do no good for us as things seem to vanish on g+ (information overload there no good for support), if you have a tech problem your best best is to email http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home Glad to see your up back up and running @Julius looking forward to seeing some of your finished guitars. Maybe you could share them in the new Project & Resources section they would make for a great project!
For some reason I now feel some drop speed on the website. It can be on the server side, or the reason that I use a proxy and now I have some "brakes"?
