Hey guys, I put together a short story trying to capture what it is like to be a CNC DIY enthusiast. When you have some time, I'd be honored if you gave it a look. Bitten by the CNC DIY Bug
The real question here is when do you start your own build so you can write first hand? (Yes, the sound you just heard was that of a gauntlet being thrown down )
I can safely say that building the smallest OX 750 x 500 in a one bed flat is challenging to say the least, had I had a significant other then the story would have been very very different. Part of the time it has been sitting on its board over the bath, other times its been on trestles in my sitting room. Only this weekend I've managed to make the bench that its going to finish up on, and is now in my shed which is even smaller than my bathroom, along with a 3 in 1 lathe/mill/drill and bench at the end. The wait for bits and pieces to arrive after ordering online from various companies has been unbearable, I'm currently waiting for a 'Phoenix-CNC' board from Bulgaria and it should be here next week sometime. That being said, when you finally get to make swarf of any description you'll wonder what you would have done without one.
