Can someone confirm that the Ekocycle Cube prints only in PET? And also can someone send me the content of their SD Card? (SDCard from a Ekocycle printer)
This is the link to the Ekocycle data. Support | EKOCYCLE | Supplies | 3D Systems They are saying it only has 200um capability and the filament is recycled RPET. You can find all their firmware, notes, apps, etc. from the download tab. Sorry, can't help you with the SD content for Ekocycle.
Yes I did check that. The firmware only has the PET Material code in it. I didnt find a reference to the layer thickness, must be a restriction in the Cube Print software.
@Tom Dirriwachter thanks for that information! I will be doing that modification. I only have one abs and one pla cartridge and will try bridging the connection to both sides from the two chips. My abs prints have also been successful since swapping out the stock filament so I may even keep printing abs until I run into more issues with it.
Still have yet to do the fw. But I did do this today. Printed V1 of a new extruder gear section from thingiverse. Also cut away the top of the cart for a little test. So far it has purged and did an hour long print perfectly. This was a jammed/bad cartridge btw.
Ok Everyone. This is what all of you have been waiting for. ReKindle is our new Kickstarter Project. With this you will be able to refill all kinds of Cube Cartidges (Cube3, Cubepro, CubeX and Ekocycle) Forum Thread: Refill your Cube Cartridges We need feedback from the communitiy before we start.
Seems like a cool project. Will the Toolbox continue to develop? Just wondering as I was really interested in the lack of material check in 1.1 since I have never had a cartridge for PLA. Don't want to buy an expensive new one just to use it to print cheap filament.
Hi, I think this is a great contribution, but after to update the firmware in a CUBE PRO FV2 single head, after ten minutes aproximatelty, the printer send error, "cartridge removed!", so the impresiòn is stopped, why this happend? somebody has the same error?, or any knows about how fix this? thanks
I have a question relating to the firmware update. I installed per instructions and now I can only print ABS on this printer. If I have an ABS cartridge installed no problem, but when I install a PLA cartridge it tells me print is ABS and wants me to install an ABS cartridge even though I know it should be PLA. Have tried multiple times and specifically set up to print PLA. The one thing I did confirm on an ABS cartridge, it does not change percentage so that is working great. I have two of these printers and don't want to update the other until I know the first is working right. Any help would be appreciated.
Yup, I installed 1.1. Downloaded 1.0 and I will give it a try. Thanks for the help. I will leave a comment when I am up and running.
As you can see from this snapshot my cartridge reads 99% full. I have printed 3 jobs and am on fourth and still reading 99%. Firmware mod is working great!
oh yeah, must be By the way, Thank you for the effort you and others have put into this. I am spreading the word to hopefully bring you more support.
Even as a sideline participant, it has been a most excellent adventure. Don't forget about the kick-starter program!
the firmware is modified so the % used counter is turned off. for instance, I have one that was at 99% at time of firmware upgrade and after several prints it is still at 99%
To be complete, there is a limitation to the V1.0... you must have the cartridge initialized before it will work with the modified firmware. The work-around is obvious, revert to original FW and use the cartridge. When at 99%, re-mod the FW. Or you can help the Rekindle kick-starter when it goes live and buy a unit that will reset one of many types of cartridges, independent of the printer. note: The FW mod disables 2 write operations to the cartridge, that's all. Somehow that disables 100% cartridges. And 0% is still 0%.
That's the part of the firmware that they haven't figured out and it is the purpose of the device that they are doing the Kickstarter for. As I understand it, it will allow you to reduce the 100% to something less or it will add % to a 0% cartridge. Before making the firmware switch just use your 100% for something and then you are good. You will be able to by standard filament rolls and run them through this printer without having to do any of the other hacks that people have done. This firmware will save us a bunch of money not having to buy expensive cartridges and also allow us to use our Cube printers after they stop selling the cartridges. You can either refill your cartridges or look at some of the cartridge mods that some have done on this thread.
I learned today that one can re-flash the firmware to factory, swap out a cartridge and then perform a manual purge from the setup menu. Doing so initializes the cartridge allowing use of hacked firmware.
