Hey! This hack is so cool. Thanks for that! I have send some donation for it, great job!! Did you saw this guy here? With your hack it is not necessary to update the chip, but it is cool that he could do this. Best regards, Gerd
I am borrowing my friend's ekocycle printer to make some parts, and I just recently found out how expensive this filament is. This thread seems to have a lot of talk about the cube3. Does anybody have any insight to doing filament firmware hack on the ekocycle?
I Don't think that the ppl who did the hack had access to an ekocycle so they never made it for that printer. They did make Refill your Cube Pro, Cube X, Cube 3 and Ekocycle Filament Cartridges | eBay Which you can use to reset the chip on an ekocycle cart.
Thank you for the donation. We are selling a device for the Cube 3 / Cubepro and Ecocyle to reset the cartridges. We are also working on a solution for the Projet 1200 (Resin-Based SLA printer from 3D Systems)
It is sold over Ebay: Refill your Cube Pro, Cube X, Cube 3 and Ekocycle Filament Cartridges | eBay The item will be for sale again today or tomorrow. We are having huge demand lately. Just doing an update for the Projet 1200 Printer.
I was cracking the firmware and using it well. I have not been able to print through the usb stick suddenly since when. So I tried to restore the firmware. I can not upgrade both the firmware through the usb stick and the firmware through wifi. How can I recover the firmware?
there is a way to downgrade. Should be somewhere here in the forum. Basicly you use two USB drives. One with the newest firmware and one with the older one. Rename the older firmware so it matches the name of the newer firmware. Put in the newer firmware usb drive and start firmware upgrade. When it starts get the USB stick out and put in the one with the older firmware and continue the upgrade process.
I can print with wifi. But cannot print with usb stick. I tried another usb stick but firmware read fail also cube3 file read fail too. I think cube 3 usb reader has wrong. I don't know how to reset printer.
Just flashed my cube 3 with the patched firmware. It says Cube3_cartridge_mod_1 on the screen when printing. The count did not change! Magic! I do have some questions though. They are probably already answered but, well, sorry, I'm lazy, to search more, so I will ask anyway! I have only had the cube for a week, and am using the original PLA cartridges. Will I need to re-flash my Cube to change from PLA to ABS? If I want to use ABS, wI will have to buy an original ABS cartridge, so, will I have to flash the firmware with the original file, start using the ABS and then when the count has started decreasing, re-flash the firmware with the patched version? After having cartridges for ABS which have been used a bit, if I have the cube patched and am using PLA, will I simply be able to swap cartridges to use ABS? Will the cube adjust temps, etc, or will it still think it is PLA? Anyways, I think you get the gist of my questions? Awesome work! Thanks. Garth.
Thank you guys. Found your solution thru this forum: Cube3 Filament *SOFTWARE* Hack is here!!!!!! where they pointed me to this forum and "they remembered me to contribute" wich I think is fair!!!!. I installed the FW and it worked like a charm! I did contribute because you deserve!!!!! Thanks!!!!
So, What happens when you put a brand new cartridge, ie, 100% into the patched cube 3? Does it reject it and not allow you to continue, or does it start printing and counting down the cartridge? I got it that you need ABS and PLA cartridges, I will need to buy two new ABS at some stage, so I can make the most of the patch. Until then, I have brought two new PLA 1kg cartridges for a total of NZ$65 including postage. Am looking forward to getting them up and running.
I'm new to 3d printing. I saw a utube saying that PLA will absorb moisture from the humidity in the air, and this can cause it to swell. How much is this a problem? If I have an opened 1kg spool of PLA, will it significantly deteriorate? It is winter here and lots of moisture around. Any comments will be welcomed!
to iamaker Hi, something like this hapenned to me because I put the flash drive when the printer was powered. So I turned off the printer, put the flash drive and powered the printer and proceed the FW upgrade and it worked!!! Don know it this will work for you but maybe you can try. I mean, try to power up the printer with the flash drive already mounted.
Hi guys, I'm already on firmware 2.02. It won't allow me to install any older firmware. What can I do. I already tried the double jump drive trick. It just won't start the firmware update with anything it already has or anything older. Solutions? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have a cube pro, but I can not find the 2.0 firmware to do the patch. On the web, just let me download version 2.02. Does anyone have this firmware 2.0 please? Thanks!!
Using a CubePro with firmware patch, lets say I have one cartridge on 4%, with the hack can I print anything bigger than what it "says" it has? or do I have to have a larger percentage and just use that one? The 4% didn't seem to change but wont let me print anything bigger even though it has much more in there.
Hi, Thanks for the firmware!! As I read, with a 4% cartridge you can only print what you can with 4%, that is, no more. You can use any cartridge that does not have 0% or 100%.
I use Simplfy 3D for slicing, can anyone confirm if the cubepro-encoder app still produces valid files for firmware version 2. I'd love to have access to cheap filament but we use the printer for prototye product housings and the default slicer cannot cope with thin walls.
Is there any way I can help to make the firmware hack work on an ekocycle printer? I can do just about anything to it along as it doesn't damage it physically.
