Building my first C-Beam, CNC and I have decided to build my plates from 9mm Marine Ply just until I get it built and can then cut the plates from Aluminium. Where would I find the plate specs to enable me to cut the first plates from ply?
In order for us to point you in the right direction on plates you're going to have to give us a much better idea of what you are building. You call it a c-beam here but in another post it sounds like you are describing an Ox. BTW, if you plan to cut aluminum with this you need to be thinking more along the lines of 15mm ply.
OX plates are in the drawings under 'Files and drawings' OpenBuilds OX CNC Machine Same for C-beam stuff C-Beamâ„¢ Machine - Plate Maker
Sorry for the confusion guys. I am a real newbie at this. I suppose what I am going to build is an OX with a C-Beam X-Axis. Maybe I should call it the C-OX!.....??? The gantry will move along the Y-Axis, just like the OX and I plan on using threaded rod. So I need plates to suit. Surely someone has used a C-Beam in place of the 2- 2060's used on the OX. Or perhaps I am the first?
thanks Rick......it's nearly what I am after. I am trying to find a build that only uses C-Beam for the X axis. The Y-axis is 2080. So I am looking for plates that will bolt the C-Beam on the X axis and has the normal Y axis design using the 2080 V-slot rail.
Then OX-Metal CNC Router Mill may be the way to go with the side plates. For the Y-axis end plates a derivative of Threaded Rod Plate - NEMA 23 Stepper Motor should suffice.
