Why the two extruders are not on the same arms of the printheads. This causes more hardware and a rigorous synchronization?
pourquoi les deux extrudeur ne sont pas sur les mêmes bras des têtes d'impression. cela occasionne plus de matériels et une rigueur de synchronisation?

the two extruders can't be on the same arm basically because the arm is cantilever. two direct dive in cantilever arm just doesn't sound right to me.

regarding synchronization between the two I'm hoping it will be just an initial headache of getting the two arm to be in the same plane when I attach them to their respective Zs carriages. Once locked, that arm is not going to tilt or wiggle

Finished BOM. this is not a cheap one.... as expected for getting all genuine part including gates belt. All in all including all electronic and controller of choice (duet wifi and the expansion board) it's a $1300 printer... if you start from scratch and have nothing.

that's a steep price to test my concept works or not...

alternatively I could salvage my one and only working printer to bring the cost down for me. hm... decision decision.

Don't like the x motor mount so going back to drawing board on that one :) it's too thin and flimsy

This is the culprit. Turns out PLA soften when nema 17 heats up. Not sure exactly what was the temperature but it must be 45°c and above

MDF laser cut spacers work a treat to avoid temperature transfer between Nema's and printed parts! Additionally have you thought of custom aluminium plates to hold the Nema's? Strong and great for heat dissipation! Thanks for the comment on Indie i2

I was hoping exactly to avoid that... I don't have access to laser or cnc... so I'm keeping it close to the project goal which is not to use any custom plate. I would love to venture into custom plate/ bracket and carriage though perhaps next project :)

Making sure the arm is parallel to the plane of bed Y axis. I don't think automatic probing breed levelling will be needed :)

Hey!! One question out of curiosity....

What's with the structurally over-engineered design?

I need the heavy mass and rigidity to hit 100mm/s with 8000 acceleration print speed.

For what reason did you install the extruder on another profile? to reduce the weight on the print head?

POur quelle raison avez vous poser le dispositif extrudeur sur un autre profilé? pour diminuer le poids sur la tête d'impression?

Yes I want the benefit of direct but don't want the extra weight. So that's what I came up with :)

Not much tinkering happening here approaching Halloween. All the kids wants is printing... :) so here's what I did with 40 micron print. took 4hr and pretty happy with the result. lines are nowhere to be seen.

Great build, fancy look with quality printing.

Are you going to share the BOM and the design files anytime soon?

Yes absolutely. there are still a few hurdles to iron out before releasing BOM and STLs. I will even release the fusion file.
I've made a few updates along the way based of test print from first toolhead (second toolhead somewhat operational but can't print yet) . and that updates leads me to another update and so on... it doesn't seem to stop but it's getting better so I will have to draw the line at some point.

I'm looking for feedback btw if anyone interested in perusing the fusion file let me know :)
