Any updates on a release date? I'm ready to pull the trigger and get away from the TinyG. (Great board but software options a poor)
So, it's been more than 5 months since the video was posted. I've done quite a few products in my career and it's easy for time to slip away, especially when breaking new ground. With open source and unpaid team members/collaborators, it's really easy to miss schedule dates, if any have actually been set. One thing I've learned is to keep expectations down, especially when it comes to schedule. Under promise, over deliver. The alternative is to "open the kimono" and show what's going on. Warts-n-all. At least it helps people understand what's going on. I will leave this with something that, while clearly humor, strikes a little close to the bone for some projects I've worked on: Six phases of a big project: Enthusiasm, Disillusionment, Panic and hysteria, Hunt for the guilty, Punishment of the innocent, and Absolution of the uninvolved.
Good luck on this plan, i\m still looking for compatible for semiconductor diode voltmeter applications on it.
The way manufacturing cycles go, if hardware design and testing aren't completely done by October, it's pretty much not happening for the Christmas season.
(; well, the Boss was out of the office for a little, so shhh don't tell him... I figured I can get away with sneaking out some spy pics, as long as I don't show too much (; Currently on the 6th prototype iteration by the way - and I have a feeling the next one is going to be "the one"!
Dankie Piet maar ek kan nie wag nie, ek het drie dinge vat dit noodig het Oh well ,I guess good things are worth waiting for right . I have a modified Kyo plate maker , a large 4x8 router and a 500x500x500 printer waiting on electronics , I would enjoy using the Apex for all three to start .
How does the specifications compare to the tinyG specifications? Both in terms of hardware capability and software. I specifically would like to know about jerk acceleration handling and realtime communications.
Sweet... I like how the wires are hiding some things on purpose... sneeky. I assume this thing is going to much better than the TinyG. I love my TinyG hardware... but the software options of JS cut which is no longer being supported and Chillipeppr online is... well horrible... My OX is just sitting since there is no offline option.... so the big question is what software can we expect... I see smoothie might be part of it...
I know there is the constant question of when this controller will be available and I am new to building a cnc, but would like to know if this controller would be the best choice for me? This might not be a very intelligent question to ask in this forum, but please bare with me. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Todd, the JScut developer joined my (no-ex) team on the CNCWeb/Laserweb project, brough along his CAM skills and majorly improved it inside our (well, their, since i'm out) UI: github.com/LaserWeb/LaserWeb4-Binaries/releases/latest - generate your gcode in there and send using one of the supported TinyG senders (of which there are others, not just CP. Look at CNC.js for example). I second your sentiment though, TinyG is great, S-Curve acceleration and realtime json is cool. But its not ready for mass market. Too many "new", hard to write a host for (we have basic TinyG host support on CNCWeb4 too but its rarely tested due to small user base) Maybe someday, but for now, we needed to stick to something more mainstream and more mature, and with wider support.
Sorry about that. I am going to be building a 1000mm x 1000mm Kyo Sphinx design. I know that the stepper motors I would like to run are the HT NEMA 23. For a while I was seriously considering going with the x-carve controller, but after doing the research it would not run the motors I really want. I say want b/c I don't want to build something and wish I had done something else even though I have heard this can become an addiction. I hope that makes sense. After reading about the APEX controller it seems like this would be more of a situation of me growing into the controller and not out growing it so to speak. At the end of the day I know this is completely new to me, but you have to start somewhere and why not start out with the best you can. Look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you and have a good day.
Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat Please put a apex controller in the old man's hat If you haven't got a controller , an update will do If you haven't got a update, then God bless you!
roses are red violets are blue apex updates are long over due. merry Christmas to all and to all a good night
Not making any promises - but I have some really beautiful Blinky Icons blinding me in the eye here (;
Ooh I I have seen these symbols before let me think oh ya oak island about 250 feet under ground could this be from the money put if so sign me up one
Hi everyone .... any news or updates about the apex controller???? enclosure controller box files? anything would be great Matt
It's looking like more and more being added. Hopefully the features don't raise the price too high. I didn't see... is there any idea on price range?
Hi all just checking in to see if anything new on the apex controller... fast approaching 1 year anniversary right around the corner of it's announcement...
