    Very nice. Any chance of some close-up pictures of the completed printer? How do the prints look at the top of the print volume?

    Would you be willing to share more detail, most primarily what alloy you used for you base and top and rough total cost? Any details on carriage, build volume, effector, limit sensors etc would be appreciated as well

    I'm on my way out right now, but This weekend I will update the post. more pics, video.... etc etc.

    I'll take some pics of the top of some of the tall Vases I made.

    for now.....
    I had the top and bottom made out of aluminum. Total cost will be hard cause some of the motors, belts and some other parts I had already, but I will try.
    build volume is 240 Diameter ( that's what I set it for I think I can push it further... but didn't need to )
    Carriage are cbeam gantry plates
    end effector is 3d printed from my own design, will most likely have that made out of aluminum soon.
    limit sensor are optical

    hotend is a the minihotend from Deltaprintr ( not a misspelling )

    So I did a rough total cost... not including all the nuts and bolts, so just the main parts.. I'm around the $1100 mark.
    (That's including the overkill Bottom and Top plates which cost $350 to have water jetted, I do love the accuracy of it though !!! )

    I was surprised too.... LoL
    No.. really...it's just as good as any other delta I've seen. I Got the settings just right I guess..

    I have most of the main parts for a similar project, with a 330mm base and 1.5m long rails. Of course, by the time everything is taken into account, I hope to have a printable height of 1m.

    Maybe I should be, but I"m not. 4020 with Nema 17 and belts, linear kits from Open Builds part store. I am planning on adding some 4020 or 6020 across the bottom to stiffen.

    This is a really nice build! I think the C-Beam is a little overkill, but it is very inspiring to see the bottom and top plates used like this. I've been thinking in the same direction for some time, but did not (yet) put it into practice ;-) This construction leaves very little room for dis-alignment...

    Question: this piece of text from your introduction struck me: "I had the top and bottom plates water jetted, for the level of accuracy that type of cutting has.". Would you say that lasercutting is less accurate than waterjetting? I would think the opposite, but have little experience with this...

    Oh .no, sorry. I wasn't comparing water VS laser. I might agree, laser would be the same or even more accurate. I was comparing having a top and bottom plate instead or more extruded aluminum parts to mount the three cbeams on, and space them appart.

    I only mentioned it at all, to say that having the top and bottom identical, is in my opinion, the first important part of this build..

    Hi, I'm realy impressed with your design, I want to make something similar. I have been studying the tevo little monster, here is a good source of information TEVO Little monster design draft open source project by jeowin
    Why you choose such long arms ? Your design have longer arms and less bluild surface than tevo little monster, I realy interest to know the reason, because your prints have very good quality.
    How many steps/mm yo can print with this setup?

    First of all Thanks. Building it was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality myself.

    I don't want to disappoint you, but the length of the rods ( I agree, they are a little long ) only happened because when I started ordering the parts, they were the first to show up. I was very eager to get going and so assembled them without much thought. Only to make the Identical. I realize now I could have gone shorter and have given myself a taller build height, but to be totally honest..... I've only built 3 things even near the attainable height of just over 500mm. It's nice to have, no doubt, but I realize now, in my case anyway, that a tall build height is not useful very often and that's why I haven't bothered to change it. That, and I have a strict rule.. " if it's not broken, Don't fix it !!! "

    I took a quick ( very quick ) look at the TEVO Little Monster... I love the look of it. It's gorgeous !!! I like the Dual stainless steal fan shroud, although I worry about the weight of it. and the 340mm diameter beats mine hands down. "Little" Monster.. I don't think so !!!

    I think you mean rigid, ridged would be bad for a printer;)

    I am in the process of printing out a new end effector.

    My rule, "If it's not broke, don't fix it" kicked in.
    The mini hotend from deltaprintr is awesome, but I didn't get the male end of the plugs they use and so had to cut the plugs off and solder wire directly onto it. the thermistor wires were extremely thin and my soldering job apparently didn't hold out.

    I've decided to put a 24V E3D Lite6 hotend on it. ( The heated bed is 24V )

    I modified the end effector to hold the Lite6
    I will post pics of it when completed and printing again.

    Hi there,
    I'm gonna make a similar build. Instead of C-beam, I will use a linear rail. So for linear rail, I must use 20x60 or 40x60 profile. (dunno if 20x60 is rigid enough)
    I have 200 dia printer too, so this will be my second delta. I already have duet3d so I'm thinking smart effector+ 360mm Haydn Huntley’s Magball delta arms for this.

    Linear rails are great !! As long as you get nice ones. There are definitely some "cheap knockoffs" that don't perform so well.
    As for being rigid enough, better save than sorry. LOL
    The duet3D is awesome !!! very smooth control. did you get WiFi ?
    Magball setup is great too. smooth .....

    I'm sure I will see the machine posted on openbuilds soon ! I can't wait to see the build quality with all those parts !

    I lost the delta in a house fire. And I ended up getting raise3d pro 2. not to tinker with, but it's a work horse..

    I'm now in the process of building a workbee 1010. after that is done a new delta in definitely in my future !!

    I already have wifi edition on my small delta; I was so happy with my duet, so I ordered the second one for future :) But by mistake ordered ethernet one. It's not a big deal; I have a laptop in my workshop, at least I can upload faster lol.
