I am new to this fourm and new to cnc but have been researching cnc for over a year and started to pull the trigger on a diy cnc plasma ..I have bought the motion control ( nema 23 x4...gecko drivers ...mach3...etc) pretty much plug and play (if there is such a thing ..lol)...I am looking at the acro 1515 and have a couple of question for your menbers ... 1- has anyone used this model for plasma cnc ..and how did they like it 2- the package that I bought came with nema 23 motors ..can I use them on the acro 1515 (assuming yes because of the name openbuilds ..lol..) 3- can the 1515 be fitted with rack and pinion for the drives 4- thnx for any help ....or links that I can read though

I can answer a couple of your questions. The acro plates have hole spacing for NEMA 17 motors. You may be able to modify them, but they are also acrylic, so the heat may be an issue. As for rack and pinion, I think that would be tough because I can't see where you could easily install the rack. On a cbeam, you could put it in the center channel.
The ACRO is the wrong starting point for a plasma system. You'll want something with metal plates and somewhat beefier framing.
