Ooznest is a very good store. They will pack all your v-slot very carefully and the cuts are very clean. They really take care about what they are selling!

While re-reading assembly instructions and double checking the BOM, I have seen 2 errors :
    • For MK3 only : latest Y motor mount use 3 screws M3x10, so you will need to add one (but you will get few from Z motor mount or from your prusa spare bag)
    • For all Full Upgrade versions : you will need 4 more M5x8 to mount RAMBo cover. In term of bag number it was correct as a bag contains 25pce
    Sorry for the inconvenience...

Official V2 release will be next week for sure now \o/

MK2.5 manual is complete (including assembly instructions). Before anyone could receive the MK2.5 Upgrade :D

Now working on MK3 assembly instructions

A rather cynical question, but i had to ask here:

between this upgrade (either half or full) and the "p3 Steel" upgrade, which one would be sturdier, deal better with vibration and be more reliable overall? i won't upgrade to mk3, sadly, so i want to make my mk2 bring all its potential (got the mk 2.5 ordered).

now for a less cynical question: Do you have plans to design an enclosure to work with this frame upgrade? it seems to give some pretty good starting points to it.

third and kind unrelated: is there any openbuilds store in brazil or at least south america?

not an expert. In my opinion the Bear Upgrade is more rigid and has more precise connections. The Steel Upgrade looks... "unstable" imho. The connections are not perpendicular by design but by chance.

I would take the Bear Upgrade. Just my 2 cents.

I think it is a fair and interesting question. I have never seen p3steel printer in reel so I cannot confirm what I say. Here are some negative points from p3steel (not ordered) :
    • Noise : it feels like the vibration will be amplified by the steel structure and the way it is build
    • Rod holders : look too small to correctly handle the rod
    • Rigidity : I am not a big fan of the mounting they are using. It is clever but not suitable to a speedy and highly vibrating machine like a 3D printer
    • It feels like it is hard to make parts very square
    • They are several errors in the Z axis of MK2(s) and MK3 (solved in the R2 version of MK3 stl files), have they been solved?
    • Customization : my type of build is much more easier to customize. For example you can easily attached accessories like raspberry everywhere on the printer. Plus it is easy to increase Z axis length. And what about linear rails on Y axis, should be easy to mod on mine as well
Yes I have tons of idea for an open source, parametric and filtered enclosure :) . I have also several others idea like stronger X axis (complete new design) or "prusa pro" printer with no limits in hardware (linear rails, improved Y carriage, enclosure...). I really need a CNC as well and have few ideas for it too. For now I did not set any priority between these projects.

I do not know any South America store. While quickly searching, I found this company making extrusions but not v-slots : https://alu-cek.com.br . Also check my list here : prusa_i3_bear_upgrade/openbuilds_stores_list.md at dev · gregsaun/prusa_i3_bear_upgrade · GitHub

    Haha thx, no rush ;)

Multi-Material with direct extrusion, no wipe tower, no volume decrease and no heavy load on the axis?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

The design only works with CoreXY really well. A Prusa has its ... "difficulties". I might be feasible when you use a longer z-axis and have all extruders mounted on top of it. But hen the max-Z setting has to be lower than the extruders to prevent collisions. Not sure if Marlin can handle this out of the box.

and Z axis is much slower than X-Y moves on a CoreXY...

Should I add this to the "prusa pro" wanted features? :D

    hell yeah. :D

But this is a totally different feature than "just" a case mod. This only works well if the firmware is modified as well. Prototyping could work with slicers having customizable pre- and post-gcode-modifiers for switching extruders.

Yes but as E3D is coming with this, I am pretty sure marlin will support it. It can also be an option : imagine a Z frame in front of the actual Z frame

Anyway, I does not hurt to add to the wishlist

Ok, here we go. Just ordered the parts.

Extrusion from Ooznest (for precision cuts), other hardware from Rat Rig (way cheaper, even with 2nd S&H; and they have the 90 degree plates in black anodized )
    Next step: print parts.

I used black PETG for these parts : Einsy RAMBo cover parts and PSU lower mount.

I put everything on one plate yesterday. 50% done in 13 h.

I really hope I got enough filament left. It's cutting it close. :nailbite:

Printed one of these the other day: 3030 Frame, tennis ball feet vibration dampener by Jason3030
Yesterday I figured there are for 3030 extrusion. Will redesign these today for 2020 extrusion. I also ordered 4x 90 degree joining plates less than the BOM. These guys are stiff as hell and a good alternative imho.

All files, drawings, description, stl, etc. are uploaded to Openbuilds "Files and Drawings" tab.

    Now creating a thingiverse thing!

EDIT : well... I had to fix some links in the zip files
