Planet CNC Software Planet CNC - CNC USB Controllers CNC motion controller is a link between personal computer and drivers for stepper or servo motors. It uses USB port which is available on all modern computers and laptops. Some models also use Ethernet port. This is a complete (software/hardware) solution and it does NOT require any additional software (Mach3 is NOT needed). Discuss all Planet CNC Control Software related topics on this thread
I've pretty much given up on GRBL and can't get any of the Chinese boards to work to my satisfaction with Mach3. Now, I'm looking for another alternative. I have heard good things about Planet-CNC, but while going through their manual, I saw this: CONTROLLER AND CONTROLLER SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY. THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE CONTROLLER AND CONTROLLER SOFTWARE, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE CONTROLLER OR CONTROLLER SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE CONTROLLER OR CONTROLLER SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE CONTROLLER OR CONTROLLER SOFTWARE. This frankly scares the hell out of me and it's really hard for me to get past it. It's bad enough for me to spend $30 on a Chinese board, but to spend in excess of $200 on their USB Mk 3/4 board and software with absolutely no warranty seems absurd to me. They don't even guarantee they didn't steal the code. I can visualize having an issue, emailing tech support and getting an answer back, "did you read the warranty? Sorry, can't help you." Is it just me or is this the worst warranty out there this side of China? It's seems strange to me, because I have heard good things about them. Steve Fox
This thread is like a ghost town. I'm interested in this option as well, but their forum is shut down and I see tumbleweeds here. Oh hell.
