settings. i wasnt able to get back to this screen until i restored it to GRBL. meaning when i would click on "get GRBL settings" button, nothing would happen.
What made you choose 26.667 for your $100 and $101? Because that is nearly a factor of 10 low for an 8 mm pitch screw at 1/8 microstepping. Also, it looks like you built the Sphinx which has a geared down z axis, so 200 for your $102 Is most likely wrong. If it is a 1 to 1 gear, tben 200 is the starting point. If I were you, I would request the proper settings for that model, then calibrate it so it is precise. Maybe the settings were provided in the manual or the build video? Either way, the formulas to figure it out on your own were in the GRBL wiki page. I posted the $ settings openbuilds provided for the Cbeam earlier. It uses the same openbuilds lead screws. If you used lead screws from elsewhere, then you will have even more homework to do tracking the screw characteristics down.
I got it back to where I could pull the settings and then adjust them. When I would hit G0 x100 it would go to the right. I adjusted it and got it close then it started going to the left withthat command. Do I have to shut it down and restart it between adjustments?
Also on $100 I want to say that was a default setting. I had gone back and set it to 200.000 as a starting point.
The gears on the z-axis are both 20 tooth so it’s a 1:1. Right? I don’t want to sound like an *** at all. I really do appreciate the help. I know I sound a bit whiny and all and for that I apologize.
I was having some binding on the z-axis and I tried to gap the pulley from the plate to help. Well, I ripped the threads out trying to tighten it back up. So I guess once parts come in I will give it another shot.

You should not have to shut it down. One of the things with Grbl Panel, and other senders, is if your spindle is at x150 (or anything greater than the 100) and you say G0 x100 it will go to the left until it hits the x100 mark, so in this example 50 mm. It is good to hear things were moving the right direction for you.
so, while i am waiting on parts to arrive i was playing around with sketchup and sketchucam. i have noticed that my "tool path" always looks the same. a big red square of zigzag lines. isn't it supposed to look like the picture or thing i am wanting to cut out?
new pulley should be here today. looking at "paid" software, will the vcarve work with this xpro v3 board i have? it looks like it is in inches and not mm.
I am not sure why you get this. When I drew up something similar, it looked like it should. There is a great manual for sketchucam if you click the "?" tab. As for Vcarve, you should be able to use mm. I think we are one of the few countries that has not been smart enough to convert to the much easier format of metric. If they only used inches, they would eliminate about 6.7 billion potential sales.
Not the best pictures but I got the new pulley on and installed the limit switches. Need to wire them up next. Playing with the free trial of vcarve right now.
i believe i will be getting the vcarve program as it has been the easiest for me to get to work, may be the trial program that is easy but i like the way it is laid out. anyways, i bought some cable organizers from the parts store on here, how do they mount? i mean as far as brackets, is it something i have to make or is there something already out there to mount them with?
Hi Kevin, Are you talking about drag chain? Lots of ways to mount, most people use some home made bracket, I was able to use some cut offs of 2040 for mounting them. Combination of angle brackets and 2040 or even just some plastic brackets will work. Regards Gary

i made my first "test" sign from the trial version of vcarve this weekend. didn't set the bit right so i stopped it. machine is still in the house so i don't want to make a huge mess.
@kevinbruner You did a great job! I think we will need to try the trial version too. I was looking at it before, but the machine isn't quite finished yet, so I am holding off on it. I feel rather intimidated, but am so excited at the same time.
