Hello - I am awaiting the delivery of the Lead 1010 machine and wanted to pre-build a sound enclosure. Can someone who already has a Lead 1010 provide the x, y, and z dimensions that clear the stepper motors and framework?
I was hoping for the same dimensions to pre-build a table that the motors won't overhang the edges. I opened the sketchup file and drew a line across the x and y. seems they are just over 44" z about 21". Mine is supposed to arrive Friday. I can measure this weekend. I think 45x45x24 will cover the whole thing nicely.
I've actually built an enclosure for mine, and can also measure the machine and the enclosure for you when I get home in a few hours. A little late if your parts are arriving tomorrow, but you can at least get materials and stuff ready for your build. I do know offhand that my enclosure is around 4'x4', but I'll get you exact information later. You're gonna love the machine, it's so good. Congrats on getting one!
Cool looking cabinet. How much sound do you think it reduces? I may need to build one for myself, but thought perhaps the need for the viewing panel would undermine the value of the cabinet?
Thanks! Honestly it's a life saver. I'd say it easily cuts the noise in half for me, but that's not measured or anything - rather just how it feels to my ears. The biggest thing it helps with is cutting down the high-frequency noises; I can barely hear my spindle when it's running idly and I have my air cleaners going. I originally planned to seal up all the seams from the inside with some sort of caulk, but it works well enough right now that I probably won't. I am curious if it will perceptively reduce the noise though! And the windows do a pretty good job of keeping the work surface visible, so that hasn't bothered me. I also have a webcam attached to my gantry but I haven't yet found a software solution for remote monitoring and whatnot. I definitely highly recommend it!
Hi , I just measured my lead 1010 with high torque steppers These are net measures x = 46" y=46" z = 21"
Currently designing an enclosure for mine anyone else have any pictures of theirs to help me with ideas? Thanks!
I didn't end up building an enclosure since I could barely hear it from inside the house with it running in the garage. The vacuum is actually the loudest part. Here is the table I built. It's 48x48
@Michiglenn — could you please post your Lead 1010 enclosure interior dimensions? I was wondering how much wiggle room you allowed around your machine for access along each side and overhead? Any recommendations on design features that would be good to include in an enclosure would be appreciated.
