Had to show you guys a gif so you could see how pro this looks. The silver parts are chromed-out and I love the way they look!
Just some very rough video grabbed while running early tests Enjoy the audio - no more squeeeling stepper drivers here (;
must say my OX accelerates a LOT faster than that (-: in fact I had to turn it down a bit because it shook the table.
Yeah we had the acceleration turned down on these tests (and for this new machine idea we have been working on) but with this kind of power we can crank it to the hilt! These drivers are simply amazing and will allow us to setup even better machine profiles for a more plug and play system.
Just curious, what don't you like about the TinyG? What are your experiences? I'm excited about the Blackbox controller and the beefy drivers. I've got some larger NEMA23 on my LEAD which could use the extra power.
The board itself seems fine. Total lack of support or any decent offline software to run it without crashing is the issue. Chilipeper was just too limited and crashing part way thru an trashing my work got old really fast. I have been watching the Apex/blackbox build and it looks great. I feel my only other option was going to be a Gecko with Mach4 ($$$$)
I hear you regarding lack of support. I can't say that I ran into many instances of it crashing. Maybe my use cases or workflow was different than yours. I am looking forward to the support offered by Openbuilds and the engaging online community. Both vendor support and community involvement were lacking from my experience with Syntheos products.
You can't go wrong with openbuilds very impressed with the team they put together from the parts group to solving of problems, the great community, the fast response you get when you need help just check out the explosion of new parts they offer and the machines they have I for one am glad I found openbuilds. This is a great hobby we have. And we have a great place to go to. The best packing on the planet when you order stuff Mb
Thank you so much jukeman. We really appreciate the kind words and will be sharing this at the morning meeting tomorrow with the Team. Every day is an exciting day here at OpenBuilds - from innovation to amazing stories. It's truly wonderful to be a part of such an awesome community.
Hey yall! Everything is looking terrific, can't wait to purchase one of those bad boys! What kind of firmware compatibility are we looking at? Post processor? - You haven't got them on the Partstore yet! I'm sold already, Sign me up!
Could they be flashed to run a 3d printer (Marlin)? I've got a dual Z i3 Prusa clone that's gonna need a new controller.
Ah, I thought I noticed the Atmel chip profile. Answers my question(s). Grbl 1.1f? Is your source on github? Can we get at the build files already? BTW... OpenBuilds Control is pretty slick.
Runs plain stock grbl 1.1f (and in our super secret docs thats yet to be published (wait till you see it though - almost took longer than making the board hehe - we refer to a few customisations and will provide hex/src for a few unqiue machine designs)
Hey guys, In anticipation of the BlackBox release we thought you guys would like to see the awesome BlackBox docs! We love the way these turned out and are really happy with how clean and easy it is to navigate and find answers to all the questions you may have. We feel that the time invested into this documentation will be well worth it and we hope you feel the same.
Good work Openbuilds Team, this looks awesome. It's been a long and twisty road, but you made it! Now, when is that link going active
I just did a quick run through of the documentation and I have to say thank you to the team that put this together, it looks like just about everything needed to put the controller to work is covered well, Great work!!!
