I have a little bit of vibration on the y-axis. I am using the x pro V4 control card. I wired them up as the video instructed all the wires are in the same order. A1 is red A2 is blue B2 is green and B1 is yellow. I read some older posts saying that the A axis needed to be wired in reverse and then saw that A can be reversed in the software. I use default settings in the control software for the workbee 1010. I unhooked the couplings to both lead screws a and y axis and still have vibration checked all wires and connections I'm not sure what's going on could someone help?
Are your Y axis lead screws taut...What do you mean by vibration? Is there play in you y-axis lead screws are they a little loose, can you move them up and down when held between finger and thumb like my vid. if so I have the solution
It's almost like a grinding noise I thought it was stepper motor related I unhooked the couplings from both a & y axis and still had the noise. I can check just to make sure that the lead screws are not loose and let you know.
Ah ok buddy, just checking it wasn't mechanical. check all the electrical contacts are making true connection. especially if you have crimps...Mine sounded like a bag of spanners because of bad crimping inside the connecting blocks to the board...(I'm only a newbie and can only relate my issues, yours may or may not have similarities). In which case some more experienced members will be along shortly to offer further advice. @Alex Chambers
Are you talking about vibration/noise when the stepper motors are stationary or when they are turning? If when stationary what happens when they are turning (I'd leave the leadscrews disconnected to test that). Alex.
I noticed the noise when I had the lead screws hooked up. I was testing the machine out. I just got it assemled today out of the box. I originally thought it was the lead screws but when I unhooked the stepper motors from the lead screws A and Y the noise was still there while turning. So I disconnected one at a time to only find that they are both making the noise. I will check to see if at rest they vibrate and make sure all connections are right and in the right order.
Have you checked the amp setting on the stepper drivers and checked verses amp rating of the stepper motor?
How fast are you commanding them to go? The first time I used Fengrave to v-carve something the default speed was set to 127mm/minute when I generated the code. I did not realize that until I ran it. When running real slow, the machine vibrates horribly. I usually run at about 2500mm/min.
