if I purchase the ACRO bundle with all add ons will the machine be complete except for a router? Which router is recommended?
The Acro system is a lightweight system - it is not really suitable for use with a router. What sort of jobs are you planning - this info will help us to advise on a suitable solution. Alex.
Mostly cutting out 1/4 to perhaps 1/2 inch plywood shapes with some detail. Thanks for your response.
Can I suggest that you have a look at the Openbuilds Lead machine or the Workbee. If you are new to cnc then consider the blackbox as a controller - designed especially with beginners in mind. Rigidity is important for a machine using a router, so think twice before going above 1000mm x 1000mm. You didn't mention what size parts you plan to cut - if they will be small then there are other options. Alex.
I have looked at both of those. They may be budget busters for me. But let’s continue exploring. I so much appreciate your help. Generally, whatever I would cut, would would not exceed 30”x24”, much of it being smaller. Could you comment on what cutting/carving tool is prescribed or used on the ACRO?
The ACRO is a system designed for use with a laser. You might get away with using a Dremel on the smallest model ACRO but the system lacks a Z-axis and the plates are made of acrylic so they may not handle the stress of a router. Both of these items would need to be addressed and even then you may be underwhelmed with the results. If you're on a limited budget you might consider some variation on the Routy CNC Router (V-Slot Belt & Pinion). The Simple CNC Router (Nema17, V-slot 2040, Arduino, GRBL) also offers some ideas toward a budget solution.
Enough ACRO discussion. I was just not paying attention. Sorry I made you go through that exercise. Where does one purchase Routy CNC Router (V-Slot Belt & Pinion)
Hey Phillip. Its a build that someone did on their own. Its not a kit you can purchase. If you go back to the link, click on the build tab. The parts list is located in the Files and Drawing tab.
Ah shoot. Sorry. I didnt know. Honestly, I meant it in a more general sense like... "People post builds". With that said, I was wondering why there were 23 pages of discussion about it. LOL
