With this jumper, you're basically telling the VFD that either "you're controlling it using the buttons/pot on the front", or "expect a PWM signal on the VI pin and use that to control speed". Without that jumper, I'm not sure anything will happen. According to my manual, it at least needs to be somewhere on those pins. In my case across 1-2, as in my previous post. I wouldn't worry too much about the 5v/10v switch on your xPro v4 right now, but I imagine your VFD is expecting a scaled voltage between 0v~10v by default, so you might consider switching this (with everything powered off) to match your VFD if the speeds don't feel right (probably by a factor of about half).
My paper manual states that when using 0-5v that no jumper is required. I will give it a shot though, thanks
I scoured the digital manual you posted on the 25th Sept and found no mention of a jumper, are you sure the manuals are the same bud?
@Peter Van Der Walt Please take a look at my vfd it is quite different from the example made. How do I add jumper wire. Also which set of wires goes back to blackbox? You can use sketches to show me. I am poor in electronics and it's terms thank you.
We recommend Dewalt DWP611s to beginners, as wiring and also using/managing VFDs are complicated. I also don't own one, so read your manual and best of luck

In 220v countries its called the Dewalt 26200 Its here, someone may see it. No escalation path, ask the people you bought it from (reputable sellers should support their product)

This appears to be the same VFD as the one I have from the terminal names. I wired the spindle motor control wires to the Vi1 (I assume Voltage In #1) and GND or XGND. A temporary jumper to lock in forward rotation would go from FWD to GND or XGND. You can just see the white tips of a jumper pin block mounted on the circuit board just behind the REV & FWD terminals. My VFD manual says that if you are using 0-10v for control that there should be a jumper across the two left pins on the jumper pin block. I'm attempting to use 0-5v from my xPro v4 board for controlling the spindle and the VFD manual says no jumper is required in that case. I have not tried 0-10v yet so make sure to follow your manual's instructions.
Thank you sir. The jumper was the magic that made my Spindle Work. I have a Huanyang 2.2KW 220V VFD running from an XPRO V3. I had all the settings correct, but did not work until I set this jumper on pins 1-2. I am using a jumper from FOR to DCM as well. Thanks again! Mike
Hi Guy's, I have been reading your post, could you help me! I just waned to confirm wiring Spindle to VFD, U1=U, V1= V, W1=W. Also wanted to know wiring to VFD to Uk Mains, Live=R, Neutral=S or T. Earth to Ground! The seller I bought Spindle and VFD from said Not to connect Ground to Spindle Chassis but I have connected one! Also I have attached a wiring diagram Just to confirm Spindle and VFD should be wired this way! Cheers Dean.
I know I have been off these forums for a while. Other projects took precedence. But I'm back at this again. Thanks to the many suggestions here I think I'm almost there. I ran shielded cable to & from the VFD, moved it physically to the other side of the garage and slapped a bunch of ferrite cores around. I ended up doing a factory reset on the VFD to clear up all the gunk I had programmed into it. Right now, I think I'm very close. The XPro is delivering the proper voltage but the spindle isn't spinning. I had that previously described issue where the spindle would start on VFD boot with a 7250 RPM. The factory reset stopped that but now it won't spin at all. I have a theory as to the problem, but the falling temperatures chased me out of the garage. I'll let you know how it goes.

I finally found a VFD parameter setting combination that enables start and run of 1.5 kw spindle using 0-5v from control board. However, commanded speeds only result in about 1/2 expected RPMs. Jumper position addition or change had no effect.
Double/half RPM rings a bell to me about motor poles... But I think it was BlackBox (PD143 and PD144) - read downward to So not sure if thats the issue, but hey worth a check
Well, nuts. My theory didn't pan out. I did have the poles set incorrectly (PD143 was set to 4, now set to 2). That didn't solve it. Additonally, PD142 is suggested to be set at 11, which I think is based on a 1.5kW spindle. As my spindle is only 800w and rated for 6.5A based on the data sheet, I set it to 6.2. So right now I can send $M3 S10000 and the spindle makes noise. It even ramps up in noise. But the bit doesn't turn. Sigh. Any suggestions?
Hah! I think I have it figured out. It turns out that one of my wires wasn't making a good connection to the spindle. That plus using up just about all of the box of ferrite cores seems to have solved the issue. The spindle now ramps up on command. Okay, time for a hello world carve!
