Hi there, I was doing some testing on my Workbee today and was looking for some info. After cutting a guitar body I noticed there was a small indent where the Z axis was stepping down. I've included a picture, you can see the indent on the right hand corner of the cut. I was just hoping to smooth that out has anyone else encountered something similar?
This could be a cad/cam problem. What software are you using? I had a similar problem recently where I had stupidly failed to notice my toolpath was following the outside of a vector when I meant it to follow the inside. Alex.
I had gone back to an old file created (in Fusion) when I was learning it. Created an extrusion to cut out a section of another extrusion, but created "new body" instead of "cut" - graphics looked exactly as I expected but 2d profile toolpath went outside the new extrusion instead of inside it. Your toolpath is treating the outside of the cut as "waste" and spiralling the tool into the cut on each pass. If you want us to have a look at your Fusion file export it as a Fusion archive and post it here. Alex.
I've attached the file, the tool paths have the "out of date" warning but that's just as I was fooling round with stock box/work zero points so it shouldn't have affected the cut.
Change your lead in settings. Its too steep which is resulting in tool deflection. Probably better to ramp into it. I would also suggest doing the initial cut out with some stock to leave, then come back a full depth for a clean up pass. It will remove all the stepped lines you probably have.
