Upgrades involve the following: Chris Laidlaw spindle mount TBD CNC linear Z DIY linear X using reinforced C beam and X mounting plates flipped I am able to achieve some pretty incredible results in aluminum and I've even started dabbling in mild steel. here is the latest part i machined on my router. On this particular piece, i was running .125" DOC and .040" step at 150IPM and it was a little to much. In the first video, it ran .0625" DOC and .025" step at 150IPM much cleaner. I think .080" DOC is gonna be about the limit for that much feed but I'm gonna be playing around with feed rates and cutting depths to see which saves the most time and offers the best finish.

very nice . As linear rails are expensive compared to wheels etc, would changing only the Z axis give you more accuracy and less play than the X ?? and also what kind of feed rates do you use for mild steel and aluminum??
He has them listed in the videos. And now I want to go out and try some mild steel. I need to find some scrap for testing.
