I did not run into any collision issues with bolts either, use the correct length of bolt

yeah i wondered how that would work out, I would just make it flat plate and use standoffs on the motor to get the jog for the pulley clearance. would be cheaper too

You are right, flat plate and spacers would work, a good forming operator can do it, bend allowance has to be exact

Good point on the flat plate with standoffs, cheaper and easier to implement.

Revised my Z Gantry Plates again, I widened the distance between the wheels as you mentioned then realized I had the wrong NEMA 23 motor so I added the high torque version which required recreating the belt again too. This CAD stuff is a can of worms sometimes. Anyway, I think this should be the final version. Here are a couple of images.

Good job bro...hope to see more videos how it cuts thin sheet, maybe with a feedrate around 6000-7000 mm/min....if the machine rigid enough also if the THC responsive too...
btw mine has Nema 34, rack pinion, Hiwin LM guide, Gecko G201X, Powermax 65, Neuron THC, already ran to 7000 pierces.
My next machine should be like yours, simple and works good

Hi Devloop! Awesome build and really dig how open you have been about the build. I look forward to following it through to completion!

I am just finishing the WorkBee 1010 kit from Openbuilds and have been considering hooking my plasma cutter up in place of a spindle or router (I have a few other CNC Routers, but no plasma cutter table).

Wish you lots of success with it.

Hello, May I ask what size the NEMA motors are? 23 or 34 and the Oz. In. Please

What a great table! I looked at torchmate model 4400, called and $25k. it is a great design, but 25K! I love that you did not over-engineer and kept it simple (I tend to over-engineer).. I built a Ox table 5' x 5', very similar. Now I'm looking to get into a plasma table. Any chance you could provide design files? I'd love to build this, but as any side project, I have to evaluate the time aspect. Design files would obviously take 50% of time out. Thanks again for publishing such a nice, simple design. Water table and fume hood would be great additions to this baby! I also look at my large OX, and say, with a different head, I could easily mount my router and cut wood!

May I ask what CAD and CAM software you are using?

I have a dumb question, I see that you are using an angled torch handle with a trigger to activate the plasma torch. How do you activate the plasma torch? Did you have to bypass the switch in some way? Are there instructions on how to do that? What sort of controller are you using to get the torch to touch the workpiece prior to the torch retracting slightly and start cutting. I am using a Hobart 12i and I have been pulling my hair out trying to get the electronics figured out. I have the steppers running great, it's the torch control that I need help with, I use mach 3 and from time to time I also use linuxcnc any advice would be great. Nice looking machine

The author would have to upload them to the files and drawing portion of the build.

I think they're in this discussion panel, they are very straight forward, just don't exceed the length of the C beam, you cut the gantry c beam to length

I love your build. I have been wanting to build a CNC plasma table for several years now. I started designing my own, but just don't have the time. I would like to build one like you have designed. Would you be willing to share your files?

Yes had to bypass a safety in the plasma in order to get the software to trigger it, with Hypertherm it was easy, not too sure on others

    Morning Bud,
I hate to pester, but I was not as fortunate as you. I have found dxf files and lots of pictures but after going thru the 3 pages of conversations I could not find much anything in terms of 3D models. Would you mind posting all of the 3D files at once? That would be oh so very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    LC
