I was also working on this issue. What I have come up with is a simple modification of the y axis end plates. (The ones at front and back of the machine that tie the c beams on either side to the smaller cross beams). I have modified the original dxf for these, adding 50.8 mm to the length. I have kept the hole patterns the same in respect to what they tie into. These are going to be killed out of 1/2” aluminum plate I have just sitting around. I could share the fusion file if you guys would like.
I would like to see the dxf file. May one day mill them myself if I find current z axis not suiting my needs. An extra inch from these plates might come in handy!
It actually buys you two inches. I was looking at ways to do get the depth without the problem of changing the interaction between the x and y axis. The solution hit while having a midnight snack. I will share the tomorrow after I get off work. I will be mulling these this weekend( can’t right now because I blew a driver, and the replacement will not be here till tomorrow)
Many thanks for this - could you please post this in the resources section so that it doesn't get lost? Alex
Click on menu, click on resources, click on add new resource - its fairly clear after that - type a description, upload your dxf the same as you did here. I'd do it for you but better if it has your name on it. Alex.
Hello Welderben, How did this pan out for your setup? Any update? This seems like the least invasive solution I've seen that still allows tiling a longer workpiece.
