How would I wire the power supply to my dryer outlet, it has 3 prongs, I think it's the one that's not grounded. So I'm wondering if it would be possible since the power supply needs the ground? I now there's a power supply hack to make it work correctly on 110v, but I'm not to sure about doing that either.
We highly recommend you get a qualified electrician in! CO2 Power Supplies can produce 20-30kilovolt, so if you don't get the earthing correct, and it does arc internally - its lethally dangerous. Instantly stops your heart from beating. A CO2 laser can also arc out of the HV cable, and the terminal points near the tube to the nearest chassis (as 20kilovolt the arc can jump 200mm or more) and if you are touching the chassis at that time, you are gone. Proper earthing is all that stands between this and death, and if you ask that sort of question, it really does indicate the need to involve a professional Wiring in a proper 220v socket with all the safety (GFCI breaker, RCD breaker, and Earth/Ground) will cost less than the consequences (;
Still run that past an electrician, the isolated secondary is now isolated from the house's existing protection (RCD for example won't trip anymore) - really this stuff is lethal!
well I didn't kill myself, but the 100w transformer I got couldn't handle the 60w laser I was trying to run, blew the transformer fuse after a few test fires.
