Hello I'm looking for opinions on this dust collector for use with a cnc machine. Can anybody help me here with their personal experience of owning one. Are they as loud as a router. I'm trying to keep noise levels down but also my budget as I only have z small workshop. Thank you .

I just looked at the reviews in that link. Here is one about noise: There are more reviews mentioning the noise, but everyone seems happy with it. I don't know bout everyone else, but the vacuum system I use (a Shop Vac) is way louder than my Makita router. I just wear hearing protection.

All dust extractors are noisy. Moving air is inherently noisy. Best you can do is muffle the flow at the exhaust end by breaking it up and put the actual motor unit inside some kind of sound-damped enclosure. If you used a cyclone you'd have a two-part system that you could adjust for better noise characteristics too.
@alex. I'm trying to reduce sound as much as I can. I've double walled my timber shed with insulation between both walls and carpet on the inside.. I'm thinking the record dx1000 may be what I go for; it will pick up finer particles compared to what I've now looked at.
I wasn't suggesting you shouldn't go for that one - controlling dust is more important than noise. Dust is life shortening, noise damages hearing (so you won't hear the neighbours complaining ) - wear ear defenders. Have fun, Alex.
@ Alex. yes I understand Alex this I why I'm going to purchase a dust extractor. It's just a matter of purchasing the correct one... Dust who wants it..lol My shed/ workshop is only small and seems even smaller now I've cleared an area for my first cnc. Space is definitely a premium ... Lol
Fine dust is the real danger - look for a dust extractor that will filter down to 0.5 micron and check out the cost of replacement filters. I think the one you were looking at has an option for a re-useable cloth flter. Alex.
Also, ceiling mount is always an option for small spaces. Edit: and if it's a shed, just cutting a hole in the wall isn't THAT big a deal.
@alex. Yes it have option for cloth filter, it also filters down to 0.5 microns ..or so the advert claims.
