is it possible to add a diode laser to my work bee? if so are there any wiring diagrams to add it to my blackbox controller? thank you
Absolutely, chekout docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox for all the documentation: OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation (12v modules) and OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation (24v laser modules) in particular Also from the Grbl Wiki (to understand the Firmware side of things) , understand Grbl Laser Mode: gnea/grbl Both the Grbl Wiki and docs.openbuilds.com are must-reads!
im having issues getting this laser to work. Ive wired it up what I think is correct and I can see a blinking light on the laser during operation but no blue laser light. enable laser mode and also remove the jumper from the Blackbox. any ideas
- Laser powered up? (LED may be tied to signal pin, and function even if module doesnt receive power) - measure at connector by laser side in case the Wago is making bad contact - S values in gcode similar to the value of $30? (for example default $30=1000, are we seeing S-values in the gcode, of between 0 and 1000?)
thank you for your reply. I managed to sort it. I had ttl and VCC the wrong way round. Is it possible to use an application such as lightburn with the Blackbox controller? it has more imaging features,
Any GRBL1.1 compatible software will work with it, we use stock standard Grbl 1.1 on it We even sell Lightburn (; Lightburn
excellent stuff. I'm going to try this later. I have noticed when I connect lightburn to my controller everything all my axis movements are inverted which is a bit odd.
I am not sure, don't use Lightburn much (Laserweb4 was my other baby before joining OpenBuilds) but Jogging x and y axis reversed sounds about the same as your issue? They have their own forum, with more expertise particular to the product
I have a comment about blackbox. This is very impressive. CNC Routers, Plasma Cutters, Laser Cutters or any other CNC Machine – the BlackBox will handle the job thanks to its multiple connection options. The OpenBuilds Xtension Wiring EcoSystem makes it super easy to connect with any tool head without comprising on security thanks to our multiple limit switches.
Hi Debby, Can you show me your wiring diagram? I'm looking to use the same laser you have and the settings you're using. This will save me loads of time. Thank you
