I'm just getting back to using my machine after a layoff and now my machine won't home. It goes through the motion on the z axis, it starts moving the y axis and hits the limit switch. But then freezes right there on the y limit switch. When I look in the troubleshooting tab on open builds control it doesn't see the limit switch being active. But as soon as I hit abort, it shows active. I'm loosing my mind.
Hi Brandon, I'm no expert on OB control, so you may have to wait for one of the others to come along, but what are your grbl settings - especially $20 through to $27. I'm suspecting a bit of stiffness stopping the homing cycle from completing. When it stops does it throw up an error message. Alex.
Limits are not checked if its already in alarm state Clear alarms before doing your testing. (thats what Abort does) Then use troubleshooting to verify switches works, make sure correct ones are wired to correct input. Note letting carriage press switch is not the same as pressing it by hand. Mechanical obstruction can prevent carriage from hitting the switch right so check that too. After that, grbl settings check Or just turn off homing, you can setzero without home, gets you making instead of troubleshooting till you get time to dig in
Freezing could indicate miswired limit. What kind do you have? Microlimit or Xtension? How many wires (3 on a microlimit is incorrect)
It has been working fine for the past few months, I checked all the wiring and made sure everything was tight. I checked all the limits in the troubleshooting tab and each one is registering. But when I home, it moves to the y limit switch and then freezes
