The image in the BlackBox docs here (OpenBuilds BlackBox 4X Documentation) shows the IoT Power Relay wired to the "Toolhead PWM" port. Is that a mistake? I would have expected it to be wired to the "Relay" port. If it is not a mistake, why the "Toolhead PWM" instead of the "Relay" port? Thanks for the help.
The relay port has an onboard relay. used for Plasma trigger. Wire it to PWM port (that is a logic signal out from Grbl to control spindles. The IOT relay doesnt support PWM but its still the correct output, just used for on/off)
Hello All, I have my setup wired this way along with an E-Stop between the power supply and the blackbox. Hitting the E-Stop stops motion, but does not turn off the router. The router turns on and off as expected during a normal job run to completion. Why doesn't the PWM port fail open?
BlackBox gets power off USB too More importantly, an E-Stop MUST cut power before the power strip so it cuts power to everything. What if the PSU is on fire, or the PC is on fire, or the router's power cable is snagged under a bit... E-Stops cuts power, not logic.
Thanks Peter, while my 1515 is waiting for more parts, I am preparing the plan for Dw611 and vacuum as many others. I am using x32. IOT is not recommended to use with anything else than router, so I would like to my own relay. I read that solid state will not work with soft start motor on the forum. Cannot find mechanical at about 3v. Do you know if optocoupler relay will work? Is there any other type of relay that can do the job? Thank you. Richard
We recommend a second IoT relay for the vacuum, run off the Coolant output: See section 3.7.3 at docs:blackbox-x32:connect-coolant [OpenBuilds Documentation] Splitting the load, prevents exceeding the 12A rating of the relay, that would have happened if you ran both loads off one relay.
Check around, some places has stock. Sparkfun, adafruit, amazon - we currently don't - but someone posted just the other day they found some at adafruit (See BlackBox X32) Looks like they are in stock for $35 Controllable Four Outlet Power Relay Module version 2 ( I can't DIY one that safe, for that low price ). At the time of this reply they had 83 in stock
