Did you join the 2 c-beams together out in the middle of the span or just at the ends where they bolt to the plate? If you did join them what method did you use? How is the rigidity of the beam with them back to back?
I am interested because I am wanting to build a surfacer for wood. It would have a long span for the x axis like yours and run a larger spindle with a wide surfacing bit.
