Hi All, I'm in the process of getting the parts together for my Ox, I'm interested in what spindles/routers everyone else is using/planning on using on their machines? I'd like to keep the noise level down as the machine will be in a garage attached to my house so I'm moving towards a Chinese spindle at the moment - probably a 1.5kw air cooled unit as this is the same cost, diameter (65mm) and weight (4.8kg) as the 0.8kw unit. One concern I have is weight, with the mount I'll probably be looking at ~5kg on the Z. (I'm going with a nema 23 so this should handle this, I'm more concerned with flex.) Is anyone else running a similar setup to this with any success? Cheers, Chris
I'm using a Dewalt 611 router 1 1/4HP, it's actually freakishly quiet, either that or the Porter Cable 7518 I run on my other machine is extremely loud. The 611 is a pretty light router, plenty of power for this machine. I'm using a mount sold by another member here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261577624361?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT He can size it to whatever you want to run..
The mount does look pretty purposeful, I'll have a think about those when I'm a little further along. I couldn't go with the 611 router as they're 110v and we're 240v over here, they may be called something different over here another make/model is an option though the price is a big draw given the power of a router. EDIT It looks like there is a 240v version of the dewalt 611 here called the D26200-GB which sells for around £150, not as cheap as you guys but not too over the top.
