Which machine do you have? On our YouTube channel you will find both a wiring/software video for your specific machine, and also after doing the setup, you can run your first project:

Hi Derek, i bought one of them black boxes only yesterday. I think that this controller will run everything as long as your stepper motors are upto 3amp and you have a 24v PSU good enough to run all stepper motors. .

Of course, the profiles make setting up our machines easier because we have proven settings
With home made, you just do it yourself: See gnea/grbl for all the details

Did you enter in the machine profile? I forgot to do this the other day on my lathe and I could not get the OpenBuilds control to get it to move until I realized it was waiting for me to finish setting it up. I have two homemade machines of my own design and the blackbox works.

Watch any of our machine setup videos, the concepts is universal (checkout our YouTube channel). Stepper wiring is stepper wiring, no matter the machine. Same for software

    Hello,
So if I have 2 limit switches on the X axis, and 2 limit switches on the Y axis, do I wire each pair in parallel to the blackbox?
    Thanks.

If its Xtension Limits (from openbuildspartstore.com) yes, you do, really is that easy

Thanks Peter for the quick response!
One more question: what's the advantage/difference to using 3 wires vs 2 wires for the limit switch? In the manual it says to use 3 wires for "Xtension Limit Switches" and 2 wires for "regular microswitches". I'm using a plunger style switch from mcmaster: McMaster-Carr

Wiring a regular micro switch with 3 wires kills your BlackBox (if you wire V+ via NC to GND your switch shorts V+ to GND)

Xtension Switches gets power to use for its troubleshooting LED and EMI filter circuitry (and thus needs the 3rd wire to provide power). Same for Inductive switches and other kinds of Active sensors

Yours thus would also be 2 wire on SIG and GND only
