Hi, This is my first post so please feel free to offer constructive advise. I would like to know if there exists a router bit to cut the v-slot shape. I have a project that uses extruded HDPE boards in which I would like to cut groves that match the v-slot extruded aluminum. Thank you in advance. -rob
I've never seen one. That doesnt mean it doesnt exist though. There's plenty of places to get custom bit made. Or maybe even grind down a 90 degree v-bit.
Almost certainly exists. Or make a 45 degree fixture, use a standard end mill. A quick clearance slot at the bottom either before or after, done. On sheets, make a 45 degree holder for the spindle. No law saying the work has to be flat or the machine has to stay stock at all times.
90 degree v bit 2 Flutes V Groove Solid Carbide 90 Degree. Create a slot 6.79ish mm wide 1.80mm deep and then come back around the edge (engraving pass on the border lines) with the v bit at that depth. I do not see why this would not work unless I am totally misunderstanding the question. Best of all, HDPE is easy to cut and should be quick with one pass at a depth of 1.185 (1.8-0,615). Give it a shot on some scrap material. An option would be to cut on the inside 0.1mm and 0.1mm deeper to be sure the edge of the grove is clean.
