Hi everyone, I'm looking for the STEP files of the ACRO plates to draw a complete ACRO system on Fusion 360. Can't do anything accurate with the sketchup files ! Thanks !
Did you try to import the parts as .stl files into Fusion? I do it all the time and then rework them.
Hi Justin, My current method is to import them as .stl, display their dimensions through a drawing and then creating the new design i will use. All this is quite time consuming obviously. The issue is that the sketchup files provided are 10:1 scale, so I can't really rework them straight. I always need to re-design them from scratch.
There is a way to fix this. It may take a few steps but it's not a big deal. Import the file into a new workplace. Turn off history. Convert from mesh to Brap (or whatever it is called). Go to the 'scale' option, select the part and enter 0.1 in the input box. Hit return and the part is now the correct size. You can now save it and then import it to your main worksheet.
Yeah that's the way I did, I needed nevertheless to create a new body to have the right functional properties to create joints between parts. Thanks for your time JustinTime
No. Openbuilds designs their parts using SketchUp I believe. There are also other CAD types. The person that made the .step files did so before there was an Acro. You can export the plate you want as an .stl and open it in whatever CAD you are using. If using Fusion 360 convert the mesh to a brep and you have the plate that can be modified, or "project" the plate to a brand new drawing.
Sorry for some reason when I go to the Sketchup Library I can only download the Sketchup part. There is no format for me to export as a .stl
