I needed to remove one of my limit switches due to a cable snag. Unfortunately in the process of getting it out Something triggered on my blackbox (which I had stupidly forgotten to turn off). Now, when I go to connect on my PC it says “firmware not detected” and closes the connection. I’ve tried to reflash using control but it control says that it has failed. Is my blackbox recoverable?
Go through this process here to include the last step. There may have been damage. You may be at step 6.3.6. docs:blackbox:faq-usb-connection-failed [OpenBuilds Documentation]
No luck unfortunately, I’ll try and contact support and see if there’s anything they can do. So much for having the machine up and running to make Christmas presents...
If it caused a dead short between V+ and GND, then afraid nothing can be done to resurrect it - Refer the warning on docs:blackbox:connect-xtension-limit [OpenBuilds Documentation] and docs:blackbox:connect-micro-limit [OpenBuilds Documentation] - also see section 6.3.1 of docs:blackbox:faq-usb-connection-failed [OpenBuilds Documentation] Sadly mistakes happen - that's why its always important to disconnect power when working on wiring or anything that could cause wired components to move
That’s what I figured. I think it actually happened before I got to the limit switch due to the gantry catching. I should have soldered the pins.
Store should already have gotten back to you, remember to check your Spam folder if you don't see a reply soon
Got the response, thanks. A new brain board would be great. What’s the installation process like? Having a quick look around I haven’t seen many other installations. Is it a relatively straightforward replacement or will it require de soldering the dead board and soldering in the new one?
